Apple Bluetooth and WiFi problems with controller

That's the problem, with the xbox controller they are not Bluetooth, they a hybrid Wifi and Radio Frequency, the idea was better distance between de console and the player. The Bluetooth of the PS3/PS4 had the limitation of the distance between the console
and the player.

Unfortunately while it is a bluetooth enabled controller currently Apple only supports MFi rated devices which the Xbox controller is not.

No, no............MS uses wifi for its controllers to link up to it's machine. It does not mean you have to have a wifi system in your house for your controllers to work. Sony uses Bluetooth to connect their controllers to their machines, but does anyone
you know have a whole house Bluetooth "modem"? (FYI-Bluetooth is faster but at those speeds I don't think there is any noticeable differences.)

the controller uses bluetooth for other devices but the xbox console does not have bluetooth, it uses a proprietory wifi for connecting to controllers. this is different to general wifi too.

if you have an external hdd plugged in, then unplug and try again, some external devices draw more power which cause issues as the wifi module is on the same bus as usb.
