Appearing "Offline" not really "Offline"

When one decides to appear offline, what they're really doing is making it clear to everyone that they're actually online, but don't feel like being social. It defeats the purpose. When someone appears offline, it should read their latest activity, such
as "Last seen Home 2h ago," or "Last played Elder Scrolls 23h ago." Anyone else annoyed with this? Hello?! Is this thing on?!

I agree Wilbur. I think in the future I will keep a local, updated save file just in case. I will from now on simply use cloud for when I am going somewhere else rather than a convenient place for my saved games.

 

No I do agree. It should do that. But then, does it ultimately matter? If that is how you are feeling (in my opinion) then your friends should understand.

I would also like to add that I miss the "away", "auto-away", and "busy" options.

 

I agree OP. The appear offline setting is the new Busy. So they had may as well change it to that. It's basically a Do Not Disturb sign.

Agree with you too Doc. Why are these things absent on the X1? One can but wonder, while making murmuring noises, looking wistfully skyward, and nibbling ones lower lip. =]

 

i appear offline because sometimes i dont have my head set on and just wanna sit on the sofa and relax

 

This feature was sooooo important when "Oblivion" was released and I had to keep my head down to dodge my "Chromehounds" crew...

Or worse yet... those people who would want to party up and "have a chat" while gaming.

Absolutely the LAST thing you want to be doing in a game like "Oblivion".

 

It was actually Oblivion when I first discovered the feature, it was a Godsend.

I use it quite a lot tbh, I'm more of an single player that enjoys multi sometimes. Never actually noticed how it works on the X1 until now, as long as it let's people know you're not in the mood, that's OK for me.

 

Ive been in stealth mode for pretty much all of my time in Witcher land even turned all notifications )including cheevos) off! If friends see the activity feed and realise I am appearing offline they either accept it or deal with it.

 

Not 100% sure but I think this whole offline thing will be a bit different when the new dash/interface is released.

I do agree though,do miss the "away","busy" etc. thing though most of my friends know to leave me alone if i'm playing single player games.

 

They use it so their Friends can't distract them while doing something, or they're trying to avoid someone.

 

I noticed this too op and was confused. I think achievements even show up in the activity feed too when appearing offline. It's kind of like you have to actually go offline to lose those giveaways.

 

Instead of showing "Offline" they should make one that says "Do not disturb"

 

I keep forgetting to turn this feature on when I'm playing Telltale games, because the online notifications tend to pop up directly over the dialog options.

 

I always did think this was weird and agree with most of you about the additional options that should be there, like on the Xbox 360. Still, I think the "offline" aspect ALSO applies to someone who hasn't actually been online for an extended period of time
(we're talking months here), since I'm pretty sure the whole "last online 2d ago" does have a limit.
