appearing offline even though profile says "appearing online"

I would like to appear online to people on my friends list, but that feature does not seem to work. Worse, I made the mistake of switching my profile to "Appear offline" to people on my friends list and now when I change that setting back to "Appear Online"
it does not actually change anything. I continue to appear offline.

I have tried resetting all router / network information, I have deleted my profile and re-created, I have tried doing a full power cycle. I have contacted support 5 times without resolution because they run me thru the same steps as I have mentioned above.

When will this be fixed?

Not showing I'm online

i have been having the same problem, but my friend says that its me not appearing online, even though i checked my privacy settings, and everything is fine. i also made sure that i am appearing as online, but i still appear offline to him, and we cannot
connect ingame. any suggestions or help?

 

New Xbox Experience - appear offline?

Ok so I select appear offline which shows in the box and according to what you said I will appear offline but the box has now changed to appear online, but what you say next is that if what I see says appear online then I'm appearing online, so am I online or offline? lol damn it Microsoft.

 

If it says "Appear Online" on the settings screen it means that you are actually appearing offline. It is a toggle and when you click it it changes to the opposite of what it happening. So if it says "Appear Online" what that means is if you click on it
you will be showing as online. Hope that makes sense.

 

Try Scrolling to the left. Settings>All Settings>Personalization>My Profile>Appear Online. If that doesn't work try hard resetting your Xbox for 10 secs than try again.

 

So, I also am having this same issue. I have tried all the above things as well and even though it shows on my screen that I'm online ...... I appear offline to everyone. I have power cycled the unit. I have unplugged all my internet stuff. I have tried
to change myself to Offline and back to Online. still shows to everyone on my friends list as being Offline. I'm online now, but if you're to look me up : JEEPERGUY you will find me as offline. I'm a little frustrated because I actually had put myself as
Offline for a few days, then when I changed myself back to Online, my friends still say that I'm Offline. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome.
