Appearing as Offline to friends on Xbox Live

Hi,

I appear as offline to my friends on Xbox Live when I am logged in and playing the same game. I am able to join party and games but do not show as online. I have tried power cycling my system and have my profile settings set to public, but still appear offline.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I had a friend offline when online as well. I just assumed he had set it like that. Did you ask those friends about it? Cause if they didn't change their settings, then maybe you do have an issue... ask them. Then, if they say no, they are not trying to
appear offline so that you wont bug them, then, I would contact Live support either by calling the hotline, or with your computer or smart phone or whatever, or just try posting in a support forum.... I'm new. But awesome, you're welcome.

Check to make sure your profile is set to show online.

Guide > left bumper to "sign in" > select profile. At the bottom of the window does it say "Appear online" or "Appear offline"?

(This may be on the latest dashboard release and not available to all as of yet.)

I frequently use Appear Offline and haven't heard of this type of problem.

Starting a whole new gamer tag isn't really a solution, I for one would not be willing to give up the 13 years of purchases etc that are associated with my account.

Let us know if changing the status one or more times helps to fix the issue for you.

Hi J Perryman,

That seems like an odd issue about your visibility of being offline to your friends when the setting clearly shows you as online.

I suggest a
power cycle to your Xbox and also your router and modem for about 5 minutes. A complete reboot of both your console and internet connection may help with the connectivity to your friends.

If that doesn't help I recommend a
soft factory reset while keeping games and apps. Make sure you have your account login information available since you will need to re-download your profile during the set up.
