Apparently I'm not allowed to use my Xbox Live Gold account on my Xbox One

Just got an Xbox One today, I like it so far, but apparently I'm not allowed to have Xbox Live Gold on my gamertag on the Xbox One since I have a contract. Hopefully I'm wrong, but according to a chat agent, that's right. Which I find to be ridiculous.

hey,

I'm having problems with my gold account, my gold ran out apparently so I tried to put in a code for xbox live. It gave me and error message while trying to give me the gold membership. I went to the error message page and it said trying to use xbox
live on xbox 360. I put the code in on xbox one for xbox one. Please help.

12 month gold account won't let my family play online.

I purchased a 12 month gold account so my family could play online, we all use the same xbox, but it won't let my partner's account play online.It say's "this account is not allowed to play on xbox live".

If you are on a entertainment for all plan you must stay on a month to month subscription with a payment option as required by the plan

As per the terms of the contract you signed

you can add a prepaid membership after the 2year term

I'm getting the same problem as tsmailus i have/used to have Xbox Live Gold account now the time on the gold account has expired so it SHOULD be a silver now but when ever it auto-logs my account i can be in my account but no be able to connect to Xbox live
but when ever I'm not in my account i have silver Xbox live so I'm just confused

Okay. So apparently the key to fixing this was to reactivate my Xbox Live Gold Membership, that's utterly ridiculous since I was using a phone to just PURCHASE a song. I'm not very fond of XBM anymore.
