App won't load on Iphone 7

Once again another update for the XBOX app and it still will not load on certain iphones. Please fix this. It is really ridiculous to have to continue signing in online and not being able to track my achievements as I used to.

App error?

I have the Xbox One App on iPhone 7. The app will not load. I get the start screen and it instantly closes. I have tried reinstalling the app but the same happens. Any ideas? Seems to work fine on my friends iPhone 7.

We’ve fixed a number of startup crashes based on data that has come back from the community, but we’re having trouble nailing down the specific conditions that are causing the issues that you’re seeing. We’re hoping you can provide a bit more data and try
a few experiments for us in order to help us narrow down and fix the issue that is affecting you.

1. When you say crashing on startup, are you seeing any user interface before the app crashes? If so, what screen are you seeing right before it crashes?
2. Upon uninstalling and reinstalling the Xbox App, which of the following is happening:
   1. Does it give you an option to sign in, and you can type in your account information before it crashes?
   2. Does it go straight to the signing-in screen (a green screen with a spinner on the bottom) as if it knows your account information, and then crashes?
3. Are you not getting any user experiences before it crashes?
4. If you are able to sign in before crashing (option (a) in the list above), can you please try creating a new dummy account and sign in using that account to see if it still crashes? We need to determine whether this is a condition specific to your device
   or whether it is specific to your account before we can proceed further.
5. Are you willing to let us pass your account information along to the investigating team so that we can ensure there are no account-side issues?

Thanks for helping us continue to investigate the startup issues you’re seeing – we recognize it’s frustrating and we’d like to get this figured out as quickly as we can.

Thank you for following up with me. I am still experiencing the same issues.

1. When I initially open the app I see the Xbox logo and then it crashes- it goes black and then back to my phone home screen.

2. When I uninstall and reinstall- it asks if I would like to receive notifications I say yes it tries to open, I see the xbox logo again (with the cancel button) but it closes immediately and I cannot press the cancel button or do anything further. It takes
me back to my phone home screen.

3. I cannot do anything at all with the app. I leave it on my phone and try every day in hopes that it works again cause I really did love the app and keeping track of my achievements.

4. As I mentioned in 3. I cannot do anything with the app at all...would you suggest creating a dummy account through my actual xbox one and then downloading the app again and trying to log in?

5. You can use my account for any beta testing/testing as long as I can get the app to work again, please feel free.

It is odd that my boyfriends account works on his phone, we use the same xbox and have the same phones but in researching online it appears that a lot of users are experiencing the same issues with the app.

Good day,

I received an email for the Beta test app and unfortunately it does the same when I downloaded it. The Green Xbox logo screen comes on and it immediately turns black and returns me to my iphone home screen.

Thank you! All the help is appreciated. I feel so left out when my friends are on their apps and I can't follow my achievements or easily view the captures on the go.

Here's the steps that they've asked users to follow with each update. Be sure to let them know! I'll post back if I get anything new they wish for users to do, as well.

 

Actually, Maggiece, they have come back with instructions for you (based on your responsiveness).

In the app store search for Microsoft Authenticator by Microsoft Corporation or use this link:

From app launch:

1. You will be asked to allow notifications. Your choice does not matter for our scenario.
   
2. Click “Add account”.
3. Choose “Personal account”.
4. A screen should come up containing the account you had previously used to sign into Xbox with.
   1. If it does not you will be asked to enter in the account name. Use the same one you had used to sign into Xbox with. If this is the case that you need to enter in your account email manually, please let us know when you get back with us.
      
5. Once you are signed in, you will be asked if you want to enable password-less sign in, for our purposes you may choose to skip this.
   
6. After landing back on the main accounts view, tap the three horizontal lines on the top.
   
7. Tap “Edit accounts”.
8. Tap the red minus next to your account.
9. Tap “Remove account”.
10. Select “All apps on this device”

After that, try launching the app. Let us know how that goes!

 

Hello again,

Unfortunately, no luck. I conducted all the steps. When I launched the Microsoft Authenticator, it asked me to add account, that went fine. When I chose Personal account, the screen did not hold my Xbox account that I used previously to sign into Xbox with.
I manually entered it and it did not ask if I wanted to enable password-less sign in instead it brought me directly to the main accounts view. I removed my account from all apps on this device and it did not work. For added measure, I uninstalled the Microsoft
Beta Test and conducted the process all over again and it still did not work unfortunately. When I open the Xbox app the green logo comes up but it automatically turns to black and returns me to my iphone home screen.

I appreciate the help.

You are more than welcome to say no, however would you like your account information passed on to help investigate this? You would be given a way to download the beta app for iOS; this does mean you may run into broken updates, but that's because you are
going to be testing things. Let me know if you want to help out with that.
