    App switching often breaks and/or controller function breaks due to app switching and do NOT tell me to hard reset my console. If that is always the answer, then I might as well forget about EVER trying to switch apps in the manner the One was designed
    for. I'll try to break down the different scenarios that cause malfunctions as they are fairly common at this point to the tune of, I almost always know when an app is NOT going to work. Often, this can be fixed by selecting the app and choosing, 'quit.' This
    is not as bad as a hard reset, but once again, it basically destroys the whole concept of app switching. Here are the scenarios: 1. Play video game (madden 25 or 15 - this particular scenario has now happened with both games so I feel more positive it is on
    YOU, Microsoft to fix). Stop playing game in the middle of a game. Say, 'Xbox, go to video' and, voila, I'm in xbox video. Watch video for half an hour or whatnot. Now, with controller fully functioning at this point - press home button, us d-pad to find open
    madden app, select madden app. Now, screen comes back up and I'm in the pause menu as I should be. Trouble is, NOW the controller does nothing. No up. No down, no left, no right. No buttons. The only button that works is Home button. But NOW, after going home,
    up, down, etc still don't work. So, I press and hold home button to try and shut off controller. 'Turn off' screen comes up, but d-pad and buttons still don't work. I can say, 'Xbox select,' and then say, 'controller off.' Now, the controller is off. I turn
    it back on and still nothing. So, now I do a hard reset and start fresh. Weak. Very weak. 2. Starting fresh. I start watching TV. Everything's fine. Tv works, it's connected to my üverse properly. I decide to play a game. So, once again, I go to home screen,
    find madden 15 and select it. I play for an hour or 2. Then, I press home screen and select current tv app, or I say, 'Xbox, watch tv.' Tv app opens and there's a 'we're sorry. Tv isn't connected anymore. We've lost the signal to your tv.' FYI, everything
    is hooked up with hdmi cables, so I would've happened all signals would be solid. Here, since the controller is actually still working, I can select this app, and 'quit' it. Starting over, it opens up and lo and behold, I have a signal and can continue watching
    tv. So, u see, I really dig the one, I've always been an xbox fan. I hate windows for PC. I am a software developer and u couldn't pay me to develop without a Mac. But, here I'm struggling with this app switching problem. This is supposed to be a major function
    for the One. But, for me, it's just a major hassle to constantly reboot, or quit an app, etc. the controller going out of whack is beyond bizarre. Anyways, u guys working on a patch for this? I can't possibly be the only with these problems.

    It is so close I can taste it!

    hard to say what i'm most looking forward to, DR3 is up there, instant switching (the Xbox 360 really feels it's age when it comes to the speed of going from app to app, or game to app...), the Kinect 2 and deeper integration into the system and it's IR
    blaster, and the controller.

    TV Signal Freezes

    Another option rather than doing the hard reset. When tv is in the main pane. Click on the menu button on the controller and select quit. The ask xbox watch tv which will restart the app.

    Just two short questions on this:

    1. Have you re"connected" your controller already to check if this fixes the issue? By this i mean if you have tried to do the connecting procedure again.

    2. Have you update the firmware of the controller already?

    If not, please try that.

    If still not working properly, please have your profile deleted from your One and then reconfigure it again, as it sounds like a pairing problem with your controller. By deleting your profile your savegames will not be lost as they are stored in the cloud.

    Lol. I tried to update firmware. Here's what happened. Again, I played madden last night. I'm in the 3rd qtr of the game. That's where I left off. First, I'm watching tv. I connect controller via USB to update firmware. I select 'settings' and find the update
    controller option. I update controller successfully. Now, I press Home button. It takes me home. I see madden app already open. I click on madden. Once again, the window opens up with no controller functionality. I press Home button to verify other controller
    functionality. Everything works fine in the menus. However, nothing works INSIDE madden app. So, I turn off controller while inside app. Something new happens. Madden recognizes controller 1 is unplugged and tells me to reconnect. Maybe, upgrade did this because
    this option never came up before. HOWEVER, upon reconnecting controller it appears buttons are functional . . . Aaaaaaan, then the app crashes!! Lol. See, this is my overall point to the post, the overall point to my story. It's the app switching that's f'd
    up. Whatever you're doing with your cache is NOT working. Some piece of information just always seems to break the mix of open and closed apps. So, ultimately, there's a workaround and the system is overall functional. The controller has never been completely
    broken. But, this constant aggravation of knowing that I can't switch apps when I want. Knowing that I can't quickly hop out of a game to watch tv and then hop back in without quitting the app first because I know the controller will not connect or the app
    will crash.

    Even if this suggestions and steps may sound ridiculous or nonsense to you please try it. Experienced kind of your problem earlier, too and usually it's a fault in the controller pairing. Even if it looks like it's the app or the switching between the apps
    is the problem, in fact it's more like "this controller is not the right one for this profile in this game so I better ignore it". And this is, what usually can be fixed with the given suggestion.

    A number of users are experiencing broken 'Get' function following Jan 2020 system update.

    As has been suggested you can activate content via website which should enable install button on relevant xbox content page.

    Add to Cart function on xbox content page and going through checkout will also enable install button.

    Note these are not 'fixes' these are sticky plaster 'workarounds' for what strongly appears to be a broken function, given the numbers of users who are reporting the issue and have all already completed the basic troubleshooting steps.

    Note the broken 'get' function is only one of the problems being experienced. Content errors and failure in 'Games and Apps' displaying available updates are others being seen this month following update.
