It's beginning to look like we simply won't be getting Disney+ software for any of our Microsoft platforms. Sadly. A work-around is to log into Disney+ from your XBOX MS Edge browser. Then, once logged in, quick resume it every time you want to watch a Disney product. The delay for releasing the software here in SA could be related to the myriad of licensing requirements to get a TV show and a movie to be broadcast/streamed in a specific market over a specific medium (like on demand streaming here).

Either way, maybe we could put together a petition for Disney to expedite the release of their App for XBOX (and other MS?) platforms? If we create a demand, they should be willing to supply.

The movie is likely not castable due to DRM requirements ans the fact that MS does not have their app on other platforms like Chromecast

Movies Anywhere is a USA only way for movies from Sony, Universal, WB, Disney, and Fox to appear in a variety of retailers with a single purchase. Movies that are part of the program will show up in Xbox or Windows apps like Vudu, Amazon Prime, or Apple TV after your accounts are connected. Many of these are likely currently supported by your TV.

As you found out, of the majors Paramount, MGM and Lionsgate are not participating

Your best bet without an Xbox would be to connect your surface via HDMI like any other media player to achieve maximum compatibility.

Looks like Disney has bungled the launch! No Disney + app in the MS store. Same with PlayStation. Same with my Samsung Smart TV. You can only watch it on a desktop or your phone. Well done Disney!

I rang the Disney+ helpline this morning. The answer I got is that the app "is coming and will be available". When? They don't know. I really feel for those people in the call centre. They're about to get a lot of angry phone calls!
