App force closes when clicking on messages

My xbox app works great until you try to click messages then it force closes. have reupdated and reinstalled the app.. i need help to resolve this.started yesterday when trying to open to check new message and continues today.

I've submitted this via the Xbox App feedback features but I'll re post here just in case.

Xbox app crashes whenever I go to Messages. It just shuts down completely. Everything else works perfectly fine, the bug is only triggered whenever I go to Messages.

This has been happening on every device, my desktop PC, Surface 3 and even Windows Mobile 10.

Additionally, the Xbox website messages do not work for me either, I get the following error.

'It appears you have found a glitch in the system. Please try again later.'

Yup , having the same problem here. When i try to go to the tab for messages it just force closes and i have to reboot the app. Tried rebooting everything and didn't work, same goes for reinstalling. Even when i clear the message in the smartglass app i'm
unable to go to the messages again. Please help/fix/look into it for the next update

The team has taken a look, and we believe a fix has been identified, which we hope to make available as soon as possible. In the meantime, an interim solution is to use another client (Xbox.com for example) to delete messages in your inbox from "Xbox Live,"
and then sign out of the Xbox App. Then, when you sign in, messages should open correctly.

 

I have signed out and back in. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app and downloaded the latest Xbox live app update as well nothing works the second I click on messages my app will force close

 

@Haxo Leilas - Tried your suggestion and cleared out a message that said that it had an invalid date (Gears of War promo code). Went back into Windows Xbox app and it still crashes. Just an FYI.

 

I had the same problem. Did what @Haxo Leilas suggested above and went into my messages on Xbox.com. I had one from Xbox Live where it said "Invalid date". I deleted the message and signed out/signes in to the Xbox app and voila - no more crash opening messages.

 

Thanks for the workaround, Haxo Leilas. I'll have to try this later. I've been having this issue with the Xbox Beta app (not regular release stream) since December sometime.

For anyone for whom the workaround does not work, if you know who sent you a message and you just want to read it, you can open their profile and if you select Send Message you can see past messages in the conversation. That can be helpful if you don't want
to sign into Xbox.com and stay in the app.

 

I can also confirm that deleting the message from Xbox Live that says "invalid date" and then signing out of the Xbox app and signing back in works. Thanks guys.

 

My app crashes clicking on messages or party.

Phone support suggested I reformat my computer, I suggested they do something much more vulgar.

This is pretty ridiculous. The only worse thing I could think of is opening the app causing it to crash.

Biggest software company on the planet.

Get it together. Can't even uninstall, the option is grayed out, so even if you don't Xbox, you are stuck with a broken app taking up space.

Fix this yesterday.
