I just got back from vacation and I was hooking some things back up to my XBOX One when I noticed a high pitch squeal coming from it. It doesn't appear to be affecting anything and it doesn't appear to happen when it is on only when it is in "instant-on"
mode. I'm not going to worry about it, but was just wondering if anyone else has heard this before. From doing some research online this appears to be sort of common and at one point was fixed with an update. I don't think it made this noise before I went
on vacation and I'm wondering if the latest update may have caused it? Sounds silly since it sounds like it is a hardware problem, but apparently an update 2 years ago fixed this problem.

:)

IDK if true or not, but was told once that electronics work as intended until the software is updated. Updates can open up say, other cores, or blow e-fuses which cause current/communications to route themselves along another path.

So if true, then it is possible for an update to cause what you're hearing.

Also, just days after MS's last big update, they released another to deal with 'bugs.'

ElectroFlying, you were "told" wrong then. The above "advice" is simply woo and word-salad jargon.

OP, if your Xbox One is making a noise that is not normal, contact Support in your Region if the problem persist.

Is it a short noise? My One's done that since I bought it. Like, a quick squeek once in a while, no pattern to it or anything. I just ignore it since the console does seem to work as it should.

7. Then by all means Elohmn, from beginng to end. Lay out not only how software effects hardware, but also how updating the software can futher effect hardware.

You have the floor!

ElectroFlying, you have committed a Logical Fallacy with your Reply.

First, you are trying to Shift the Burden of Proof. It is your claim, your positive statement, therefore
you need to provide evidence that supports your claim. I can simply reject your claim and call it out for what it is woo.

Second, you have created the Logical Fallacy of Argument from Ignorance. Lets just say hypothetically (more below) I or anyone else did not know one thing in regards to your claim, this alone does not make your claim true or correct.
I am not required to provided evidence your claim is false by default. You are required to provide evidence your claim is true.

As far as Software "route" over "hardware paths" and "e-fuses", you need to provide reasonable evidence to support your claim.
Reasonable being a key word, conspiracy theories websites found via Google are not "reasonable" evidence to most reasonable people.

9. ^ In other words, your entire "woo and word salad jargon" comment was as I suspected. An idiotic attempt to attack the messanger as opposed to the message.

Absolutely not, regardless of "who" would state such I would reject it just as equally until they provided reasonable evidence to support their claim. It's not due to "you" as a person making the claim but the claim itself. If
you further support that claim or belief, well that's your choice then.

I simply reject the claim as word salad and woo.

11. Until I hear a better explanation of how software/updates effect hardware, I have no choice to believe it.

You jumped into this with both feet and for what? Certainly not to give a better opinion of how it works, so I have no choice but to conclude that you are either trying to protect ??? and/or just looking to argue.

Whatever the reason, you seem to always divert away from having a real conversation by using words like fallacies, ignorance, etc, etc. Which I told you before is cute but childish.

So i'll put it another way. If this is how 'higher education' taught you to act/react while conversing with someone who does not share your beliefs, nor agree with you. Then I would be demand my tuiton $ back if I were you. .

Off Topic but I have to ask, really? You really honestly just believe a claim by default until someone provides reason to not believe? This is a fundamental and severe difference in a way you and I view the world. I try to use the
one of the best known methods for the testing of reality by using skeptical empiricism and logic.
If this is how 'higher education' taught you to act/react while conversing with someone who does not share your beliefs, nor agree with you.
This is not how a "higher education" taught me anything in regards. I simply do not accept claims without reasonable evidence to support that claim. Truth and accuracy of a claim in regards to reality is not tested by
faith in simply believing until shown otherwise.

Well, enough on this Off Topic, good luck with your future endeavors.

You already said you wouldn't accept google searches etc, nor can I have it published in peer review publications, nor can I get MIT Professors to explain things to you.

Yet you seem to be demanding just that. If it's not harmful to your ego, might I ask why?

I did not say I require any of the above, how about just start with
reasonable evidence to support your claim. I am not looking from an
Argument from Authority.

15. So you did not say. "Websites found via google are not reasonable." in your earlier reply?

I know my sentences are not worded properly, but yours are. So if that isn't what you meant, then why post it?
