Anyones help would be appreciated

I am extremely frustrated and disappointed in the way this game is set up as I am certain that all my hardwork was for nothing. Basically, I have been working on one world i made on my xbox minecraft console edition for a few months now and a few weeks
ago I logged onto my account on my friends xbox when I showed him my minecraft world. Since then, I have logged back onto my xbox multiple times, fought the dragon and the wither and put substantial work into my world. Yesterday night I tried to show him the
updated version of my world and how much work I have been putting in. Unfortunately the world was not updated and looked just like it did weeks ago when I first showed him. I attempted to exit the world the only way I knew how (the “save and exit” button).
For a moment I thought, wow I hope that doesnt overwrite my world completely being that it was a very old version of my world with a lot less work put into it. My friend assured me that the work should be attached to my xbox hard drive. Today I tried to log
on to my world to find out that all my hard work was gone. The old outdated version of my world that I saw on my friends xbox was now a reality for all xboxs I signed into. How is this fair? Why was the old version still on his xbox and not the new updated
version I had been working on for hours on end every day? Its even strange because when I load up the world now, everything is as if it is 2 weeks in the past except the position of my cats dogs and parrot which are in the positions I moved them to on my newest
save. The pets locations are the only correct thing about my world. Is there really no way to recover all of my hardwork somehow? If so, it is ridiculous to force me to save and exit a world that is outdated. I already contacted xbox support twice and they
could not do anything to recover the world I worked so hard on. All I wanted to do was show my friends all the hard work I put in because I know they would appreciate it. Why would minecraft allow an old version to overwrite my previous version on my xbox? If
there is anything that can be done. I would be so grateful. I worked so hard for so long and I dont want to start from square one just because I tried to show my friends my finished world. Any help is appreciated.
