Anyone remember when the forums were fun and fast loading?

Nowadays they're just laggy and slow loading, ever since they changed it a while back. I havent been on these forums in 6 months and they havent changed except they are more slow if anything. Is there any reason why they cant be fast loading pages like the
majority of pages are nowadays and not like trying to load a page on Freeserve Dial Up Internet in 2001?

Yawn. I remember when going to forums was fun. Ppls were nice, talked about their weekend, shared asian porn, etc...

Anyone remember the times when FPS games were so fun that they didn't need a meaningless progressive ranking systems for people to keep playing them?

 

It's random for me, one day it's fast the next it takes 10 seconds or more for a page to load. Although it's a lot better since I moved to BT when compared to how awful it was when I was with virginmedia.

 

Yeah I remember, think it was 2010....

 

Because the principles of web 2.0 dictates user experience isn't so important so long as everything looks as trendy and sleek as possible. Or maybe the site's back end is just *** or something.

 

I'm with Virgin Media and it loads fine..my clips are loaded straightaway on my profile and play almost immediately with no buffering, in fact i'd say the forums are less glitchy and slow (for me at least) than they were six months ago

 

It's never been very good since they changed the layout. That's the reason so many people left the forums.

 

It's not the fastest. Even if I view it at work, and they have a direct pipe! At home i'm on a 40Mb connection and it still takes time to load. Most likely due to the backend system.

 

Wish I could get faster broadband, out here in Lincs the best we can get is around 5mb.

 

It drops and rises for me based on time of day and day of week. I notice it runs slowest for me on a Thursday and Friday at about 5pm. Other than that it runs fairly okay.

 

Seems alright for me, for the most part anyway.

 

No problems here, loads a bit faster at home on Virgin than here at work with a dedicated pipeline.

 

Your dead on about the fun part mate used to get a great laugh on here but its not the same now

 

It's not just this forum that's dying it's also other gaming forums, and the big one it's gaming it's self that's dying.

The fun factor that we once had in playing multiplayer games online has nearly all but gone, and that's on all the consoles, I can't speak about pc as I don't games on that any more. To me it seems more a chore than fun and that's not to say I don't play
regularly because I play daily still.

To top it off we've nearly lost all our places to shop for games now, even the big supermarkets are coming away from gaming, Sainsbury's Tesco and Asda's gaming shelves are getting smaller and the staff tell me that they don't receive no where near the amount
of stock they used to get in.

That's ok if you prefer buying online but I used to get a buzz once upon a time from going in and out of the gaming shops incase I saw a bargain that week, shopping in town isn't the same any more. Even shops like HMV have all but done away with the gaming
section now.

I have many friends or family members that have given up gaming all together or may just buy a couple of games a year, it's a shame as I still pretty much enjoy it, even though I'm now 49 I'm a daily online player, but that Buzz I used to get before entering
an online multiplayer game has almost gone.
