Anyone NOT excited for Titanfall?

I can't help but feel that the gaming media at large may be doing the game a disservice by hyping it up to almost absurd proportions. Reading through some of the previews sentences and words such as "revolutionising the FPS genre" are being floated around.

Humans don't tend to take well to being told stuff like this, and naturally rebel. The voices of so-called "haters" have almost drowned out those that actually genuinely just aren't interested or don't like it. There's loads of comments on Youtube claiming
it's a terrible game. C'mon, when you look at it can you really say it's terrible? It's fluid, quite well balanced and has solid shooting mechanics. But then, I suppose this is the gaming community of today on the whole.

Hype is a b*tch, and that could damage Titanfall as there's some expectation for it to be the second-coming.

I'm excited for it, personally. It's just flat-out fun for me. Is it the next big thing? I have no idea. But the last time I enjoyed multiplayer in quite this way was the original Modern Warfare, which did indeed go on to become the template for freaking
everything. But the shape of the industry is different now, and I don't see Titanfall doing that.

Individual elements of the game are not new or original, but the way that Respawn have brought them together does feel new, and like a breath of fresh air. The game flows beautifully, and makes you feel pretty awesome. My only concern at this point is longevity.
There should hopefully be plenty of room for varied styles in the full game, but the pace of each match feels largely the same.

 

Played the beta quite a bit to see if my mind would change, but no. The game is terrible. Gameplay was incredibly boring. Graphically I set all settings to max , had it running at a constant 60 FPS and it looked pretty bad for a PC game.

I hear that the main game will have more cool features, but since the demo was horrible, I cant justify spending 60 bucks to find out. I went and bout the New donkey Kong game and so far its really fun and it was ten bucks less.

 

After playing the beta I cant say ive changed my mind. Feels pretty much the same as COD to me. Everything dies from just about aiming at them. Plus the AI is absolutely horrible.

 

As I don't know much about it, I cant say that I'm excited.

 

All the jumping around reminded me of halo, so not going to get it.

 

I was excited until I found it it's purely multiplayer (bummer). I'm a campaign person, that's what I truly buy games for. I'm not paying $60+ for an online game that will have overpriced map pack DLC like Call of Duty

 

I think it looks like a great game that I'm sure I would enjoy, but since my interest in MP games doesn't last as long as it used to I'll save that gas tank for the new Halo and run it out there.

 

I completely forgot about the new Halo. Hopefully I'll be able to stomach it after playing Titanfall. The campaign, at least.

 

Im indifferent about it. Its nothing special to me.

 

I bought too many games lately anyway (Donkey kong Tropical Freeze, Lightning returns C.E , Metal Slug 3, Star Craft 2 HOTS, South park stick of truth C.E and preordered the diablo 3 expansion) so I need to focus on those and work on my backlog.

 

the entire thing just looks like a beta test for Titanfall 2 to me... Im not getting it for sure.

it's a bot slaying noob fest. bots are in game to make people feel like they are making progress so they keep playing and buying map packs and future titles when its the same game youve been playi for years just noobier than ever. it's crap and a rip
off half the ppl in this thread sound like a commercial and are totally brainwashed. prolly why they are giving the game away free with consoles. can we say desperate?

 

Or maybe people just had a lot of fun playing it? Seems like the far more likely answer. As for giving it away we an Xbox, can we say basic marketing? Titanfall is currently one of, if not the most, hyped game, and it's available only on PC and Xbox One.
Microsoft would be insane not to try and use that to sell more consoles.

Yeah, the bots are great for beginners or those that usually struggle to play in other competitive shooters. The game is geared toward that, so to me it seems pointless to few that as a flaw. I don't criticise Dark Souls for being hard, because it's supposed
to be. Likewise Titanfall is geared toward being easy to play, to allowing anyone to jump in, have fun and feel cool, so by the same standards I won't criticise it. You've played a lot of Dark Souls - would you list how hard it is as a flaw?

Also, lets not forget games like Modern Warfare 3 and Blacklist on your list, both games geared toward beginners that are easy to play and make the player feel awesome. And you know what? That's fine. I've played 'em both. Couldn't get into MW3 because there
wasn't enough to sink my teeth into, but then I've not gotten into a CoD since Black Ops. Blacklist was like a game made from the ground up by commitee to please everyone and is a breeze to play, but I had fun.

But buried beneath the easy pick-up-and-play attitude of Titanfall I do feel there's some depth to the gameplay. The Beta was filled with people learning the ropes, but during other times I had a chance to play the game I got a lucky shot to go up against
a few devs. With a few players that know what they're doing, the game has a pleasing amount of depth to its mechanics, as everything can be countered and learning how to utilise the movement and pull off more advanced chains is key. It's not hugely deep, definately
not, but I think experienced players will find a lot of tricks to use.

Don't confuse complexity with depth. There's more depth in well balanced, simple, elegant mechanics that there is in complex messes, although obviously a beautifully crafted, balanced, complex game is a freaking joy. I've yet to encounter a shooter I can
ever put in that catagory, though

And don't confuse something being easy to pick up and play as meaning it has nothing else to offer.

That's my two cents, and I'm genuinely intrigued in hearing more from you. Go more in-depth, though, dude, as it does just come off as a bit of "Angry Rant Against Popular Game." at the moment.

Also, what do you feel its ripping off? I reckon it has a lot of elements from a lot of games, but the way it puts them together and executes those elements is new.

Just a few titan types and low number of players, I expected more diversity for something that is hyped so much
