Anyone know why HDR doesn’t always work on the series x dashboard

Thanks for you reply. I’ve done the reset but that didn’t work. I have logged back in and now the rewards app won’t launch. I’ve tried reinstalling the rewards app but still won’t open. It says something about updating location. This used to happen before but I could click the icon again and it would let me into the app. But now I can’t get into it at all. I’m guessing I’m gonna have to do a full factory reset? Thanks Luke

Hello Luke, this may be some bug in the system, you have already tried some procedure in the console, in case you have not tried to do the procedure below.

Xbox One reset keeping Games:

Press the Xbox button to open the panel.

Select system > Settings > System > Console Information

Select Reset console.

Restore and maintain my games and apps.

Rest assured, you won't miss games or saves

Note: You need to know the email and passwords of your accounts when performing this reset.

Found out HDR was the issue. If I turn off the HDR everything works fine. Anyone know why all of a sudden HDR would cause my XBox to dim?

I had the same / similar issue with my old 4K 60hz none HDR / HDMI 2.0 monitor when watching movies and some times in games with the Series X,

As soon as i upgraded my monitor to a 4K 144hz monitor that has HDR / HDMI 2.1 ports, i no longer had this problem,

I'm not sure what the problem is, but my guess is that the HDMI 2.1 port on Series X doesn't play well with HDMI 2.0 port of monitors, or it's the Series X trying to force HDR on, even if the monitor does not have / support HDR and the HDR in Series X menu's is turned off.

Hi - first, sorry. I entered I purchased the Xbox in 12/21. I meant to save I purchased the Xbox in 12/20.



The first (main) Tv is an LG OLED C1. The second TV I tried is a TCL 6 series from a few years ago.



Both have HDR and DV, but the TCL doesn’t have VRR and isn’t 4K/120.



I’m pretty sure I downloaded the series X versions. I didn’t know there was an option to do otherwise? GamePass doesn’t just select the most appropriate version?
