Anyone know what to do for a broken Elite controller?

So I have no idea what to do. The elite controllers are barely ten months old, and I'm noticing I'm not the only one with problems. My left bumper has stopped working and falls out if I hold the controller upside down. My right analog stick is so loose
that when the controller vibrates, the analog responds. I've spoken to customer support and they said they would fix it for the price of a whole new controller. Why wouldn't I just buy a new one then? What should I do?

You don't have to pay to link your Youtube. Go on the Elite website and you'll see how to do it under "vault." You have to have Elite & be logged into Youtube to do it. HOWEVER, theatre clips have not been able to upload to Youtube since Dec 1 for anyone,
as far as I know. It's just another of the many, many, many broken flaws with no timetable for a fix that Elite has.

Microsoft really need to take some ownership for the quality of their pads, this is not an uncommon complaint and shouldn't be happening on a premium product.

I'm guessing your in the USA Nugly? If so sorry I don't know your trading laws but in the UK you'd be covered for a year as far as I'm aware if not more under European laws.

 

The best you can do is go through the official repair/replacement process:

If you live in NZ or Australia, you get a minimum 12 months warranty on it due to consumer rights legislation over here. I fel sorry for you US people.

 

Ya no kidding. I was told by Microsoft they would repair it for $140. Absurd.

 

Are you %100 sure? That's pretty rude for an expensive controller.

My brother lives in the States and his controller developed a fault. When phoning Support they told him the price of repair was basically same as buying a new one

He was a bit miffed to say the least but needless to say he just got a new one.

I agree with what Nugly said above, it is absurd. Why would anyone pay that much for a repair when you could get a brand new one? MS really needs to think about this one.

Left bumper did the same thing on my elite....can some filthy rich gamer start filing lawsuits please. $150 and mine broke after 6 weeks..

MS doesn't want to do the repair they will if you pay for it but they prefer you to buy a new one. They get all the money either way but no labour or parts cost that come with the repair

 

As I said in my earlier post Microsoft need to look seriously at the build quality of their pads. I frequent Reddit a fair amount and it's a very very regular complaint on various forums over there. Now if it was just the odd couple here and there you could
maybe forgive it a bit but tbh this is this generation RROD.

 

Funny thing is that I don't believe they 'repair' your controller as the information at the link I posted suggests that you actually get someone else's controller they already repaired to cut down the return time:

'Important If you do need to send your Xbox Elite Wireless Controller to our service centre, do not send removable parts with your controller. They will not be returned to you. Keep all the removable D-pads, paddles and thumb sticks. You'll receive a replacement
controller without these parts, so you'll need to use those original parts with the replacement controller.'

Unless they actually send you a new body, but I doubt it. Admittedly, I have dropped my elite controller pretty dang hard on the right bumper and it seemed ok at first, but after another 4 months the plastic underneath which attaches the bumper to hold it
in place has broken and the bumper now floats around in the shell, haha, I'm not sure what to do with it, but I am still using it.
