anyone help please? gamertag not changing

Hi, I've just created a new account as I'm blocked out my old Microsoft account from years back.

However, when i go to change my gamertag from the default one that xbox provides when you create an account, it states that none of the gamertag are available (tried numerous tags even with random names and numbers).

Am i missing something like you have to sign into an xbox first to be able to change it to your own one orrrrrrr?

Anyone help please?

Gamertag not changing?

Hey guys,

Last Friday I changed my gamertag, but it's not showing yet. I've contacted xbox support twice now and the only thing they told me was to wait another 24 hours.

Does anyone else have this problem? or does anyone know how to fix it?

Are you trying to change it to the gamertag you had before, because if you are you wont be able to change it as your old one will still be on xbox live as a live gamertag.

There are no options to get a free gamertag change, the only way to change the gamertag is to pay for it.

Also be aware that this thread is more then one year old, next time to get the best support you need to create a new thread for your specific support question

Sorry im late but it was finally changed. I called Xbox customer support again and they told me there's been a issue where changing your name on a PC doesn't always work so I had to change my name on the console and they simply refunded me for the original
name change that didn't go through.

It looks like your GT has changed from here. If it still has not changed on the console try removing the account and then re adding it to the console.

Doesn't reaaolve your issue sisnce all you need to do is actually set contacts to friends only And forced name changes only gives you a random name
