Anyone have a QUIET SS Overdrive white console? No cricket sounds

Over in the support forums alot of users, myself included, are hearing a cricket like sound from the system during gameplay and idle. Looking for any members that have a quiet console, either white or black. I may try to exchange for a black kinectless console
if I have a better chance of getting a quiet one.

Xbox One Weird Fan Noise

Got a Sunset Overdrive bundle a few days ago and also experiencing this cricket noise. It's persistent the entire time the Xbox is on. When a game is running, the sound from the TV kind of drowns it out. The system itself works fine but the sound can get
annoying when the room is quiet.

Yes and no I got my sunset overdrive edition Friday hooked it up turned it on and boy what a racket, however after the update it went away.

Having done a little research I believe it's down to part of the hardware, it's called coil whine.

Ms did a update in October to fix that problem.

 

It wasn't the coil whine for me, just a light cricket sound coming from the console. I sit very close to my TV and console so I hear everything. I've also updated the console already and tried running games from an external harddrive. Could be a normal sound
that isn't noticed because most people sit further away from their console.

 

My nephew who is staying with us has the white Xbox One/Sunset Overdrive bundle, I just had a listen to it why he was playing the game ( turned the volume down on the TV ) and it sounds as quiet as my black Xbox One which is whisper quiet.

Just to add he doesn't use any external hard drive.

 

Thanks for the reply Lofty. I'll exchange this one and see what happens. It bothers me since Microsoft advertised this as near silent and so far the PS4 is the only current gen system that delivers that.

It's funny you say that, my PS4 makes a lot of sound whereas my X1 (black) is quiet.

 

Well, my current PS4 is my 4th. Ashame that all systems aren't created equal. Got my new XB1 but won't be home for a while to try it out. I'll post the results here when I can.

 

I just spent yesterday installing games and updates on the white SS console so My son doesn't have to wait hours to play it xmas day. I have to say, it's whisper quiet.... Looks gorgeous in white too.

 

Ok, there's a HUGE difference in noise level during gameplay. I'd say this one is as close to silent as it gets. Glad I went ahead and exchanged consoles.

 

no have the SSO console it is very quiet.
