Anyone got a Turtle Beach Ear Force Stealth 500X headset?

Yes i did read that comment, but I wasn't sure if his brother had the same issue on HIS xbox. ie Did the astro have a delay on the brothers machine? Did the stealths get tested on the brothers xbox and was there a delay?

One thing I meant to ask you guys: -

When you turn your Xbox on, do you get the "Headset assigned" notification popping up, even if the headset itself is turned off?

 

YES, and I hadn't given it much thought until yesterday when I tried to Skype without using my headset (wanted to use Kinect and stereo).

That was a no-go. I did not get that to work since all audio and speak needed to go through the headset. I searched the settings on both the Xbox and the Skype app to try to force the sound to my receiver and Kinect without any success. Anyone that got this
working?

 

Yeah, you can't hear people talking in game either, because the Xbox One thinks you're using a headset and routes the sound to that instead of your speakers, even though the headset itself is turned off.

Makes sense, but I hadn't noticed since I most of the time use the headset while playing.

I am not in the preview program, so thank you for making this an issue there as well. Probably more folks, that can actuall do something, that reads those posts.

I will try to report this to Turtle Beach as well, since this problem is more likely to be on their side.

 

I got a reply from a staff member regarding the headset assigned issue, and he said that the team would look into it.

I also sent another email to Turtle Beach's tech support yesterday about both the latency and headset assigned issues. I posted about it on their Facebook page a few days ago too, but I got no response.

I am getting tempted to sell the headset to be honest. The only thing it really has over the MS stereo headset I already own is that it doesn't need to be connected to the controller, given that I'm not satisfied with the performance when using the surround
sound mode and I'm having to use it in stereo mode.

The headset assigned thing is really annoying. Most of the time I don't bother wearing the headset unless I'm gaming with friends, but if I hear a random player saying "hello? Anyone chatting?" or whatever then I will put my headset on and talk to them.
Obviously with this issue present, I don't get to hear any in-game chat at all unless I put the headset on.

 

I too had the skype conundrum and found that I just had to disconnect the TB USB receiver from the console and then the sound for skype came through. Not a perfect solution, it would make far more sense if you could assign sound to come via the TV for skype
as default, but that doesn't appear to be an option, so hopefully that gets changed and thanks to those who have requested that.

I too got an email from TB in response to the audio latency lag, they asked whether it still happened when I changed the output to stereo uncompressed and I told them that that stopped the lag, but disabled obviously the surround sound. I am awaiting for
a further reply to that and will post it when/if i get one.

 

Sigma you said you are planning on selling your headset, but if you believe it to be a Microsoft problem and not a TB one, then surely no other headset will give you the surround sound without lag you are looking for? Or have you found one that accomplishes
that?

 

I don't know if another headset will give me surround sound without the lag, but right now I've got 4 choices: -

1. Use the Stealth 500X in stereo mode, but keep unplugging/plugging in the transmitter due to the "headset assigned" issue. That's not exactly convenient to do in the middle of a game if I hear someone saying "anyone want to talk?". The advantage is it's
fully wireless.

2. Use the MS stereo headset that I still have. Then I get no lag, no "headset assigned" issue, but obviously it has a wired connection to the controller. It's only stereo, but then the only usable mode for the 500X is stereo too. The advantage is that I
can sell my Stealth 500X and hopefully get most of my money back as they're in mint condition.

3. Hope that MS/Turtle Beach fix these issues. I don't have much faith in this and I'm annoyed that these were even issues in the first place, given that this is a licensed headset that Turtle Beach made with assistance from Microsoft, and given that it's
£200.

4. Wait until the Elite 800X comes out and try one of these. As I'm in the UK if I buy online I can return the headset for a full refund without having to give a reason, so I can at least test it out. If it doesn't have the same issues as the 500X, I will
sell the 500X and my MS stereo headset, but if it does, I will return it, sell the 500X, and just stick with the MS headset.

I will probably do option 4, but I'm getting a little fed up with having to chase this up to try and get a solution, and I don't believe that nobody from Turtle Beach or Microsoft noticed these issues before the product was put on the market.

 

Well I can certainly feel for your frustration when you have a tech problem that seems insurmountable: (it drove me mad that my 360 TBx41's had terrible wireless interference and there was no way to change the channel from 2.4ghz, so they just constantly
popped and crackled whilst my router sent out signals).

I tried to see if I could find a workaround for your Sigma and this might be one, although again not ideal it is perhaps better than using just stereo:

According to
support.xbox.com/.../configure-audio-settings It says that the "Your Xbox One can produce digital surround sound for games and Blu-ray or DVD movies. Only the digital audio pass-through from your cable or satellite box is in beta". I presume therefore that
you have a cable box linked to your Xbox One? If you do perhaps by pass it and route it direct to your TV, or at least when you want to play games/watch blu/dvd discs. By doing so it should allow you to change the HDMI output to bitstream out and remove the
lag. That is what my setup is = no cable box, and now now lag via bitstream out HDMI.

Thanks mate, but I don't have a cable box connected to my Xbox One. It's in a bedroom at the moment, hooked up to a 27" Dell monitor and a Yamaha amp.

To be honest, I'm getting a little fed up of the issues with the Xbox One in general. Since the latest preview dashboard came out, I've been having more issues with games failing to launch without me doing a full reboot, and when the console is turned off,
my external HDD keeps turning on and spinning up, then immediately turning off again - and it does that repeatedly, which is almost certainly no good for the drive. I know it's a preview dashboard, but I would have thought that each new release should either
improve performance, fix bugs, or both, except new issues keep popping up. I expected the experience to be a little buggy at launch, but the console has been out for 15 months now.

 

Hmm, I wonder why you cannot change to bitstream out then on the HDMI? Have you tried with a TV to see if it eliminates the issue. At least that way you can identify whether it is or is not the headset?

I gave up on the headset. I get alot of interference apparently, sound keeps cutting in an out. People can't hear me well when I chat. But when it works properly it's awesome but lately it has been terrible. I should of just went with a wired headset like
the a40s. I'm out 230$ for a headset that says it will have crystal clear wireless with its new technology. That was a lie. Btw I didn't have any lag in audio. Just alot of cracking and disconnecting.
