Anyone else think "next Gen" is Mehh

because the X1 hardware has been a break from the norm so the frostbite engine is made to work on old gen (CPU - GPU and big pool of memory) not offloading onto dedicated hardware which the X1 was designed to do (Faster CPU more Ops/sec - GPU large pool
of memory, esram, 15 co processors, one of the most poweful audio chips ever designed, higher bandwidth, more L2 caches) I am fighting a battle here that can not be won so I am going to stop.

is this info been changed ?

Next gen always starts out with a huge quick bang and then once we realize we just went from a platform with 1000s of games to a platform with a couple handfuls..... we start saying....." meh"

Next gen always takes a while to get going.

 

Lets see this conversation in about a year. You can't judge a new line of systems for at least a year due to everything being moved over and the developers still learning the systems.

 

Keep both. I've seen only 10 of my friends max, playing on Xbox 1 and all of them return to 360. It's true 360 can do stuff which 1 can't (like 1. voice messaging on the same platform 2. add a theme/any pic as your dashboard background 3. a funner Party
system which doesn't look so windows 8 4. can read videos/pictures from USB 5. chatpad 6. 360's UI is faster than 1's UI if you navigate with just your controller. 1's UI you have to.... wait... for the menu's to load and it has a boring black background which
you can't change yet 7. no bio/name/motto/location on your profile. 360, xbox.com and 360 smartglass have it).

Some positives about the 1 is that it doesn't abruptly disconnect you from Xbox Live every time there's an update (esp annoying if your in a party), and it gives you more detailed network connection info including ping, etc, the controller is nice and Kinect
can read QR codes. Voice commands are not available for NZ locale but NZ'rs can just temporarily change locale to Australia to see voice commands work. Battery indicator and Recent Players list. Skype must allow users to change your DOB mobile number and personal
info from Public to Private which is why I've left those fields blank (allow control over which personal info you want public, private, contacts only). I feel even Video Kinect run totally by the Xbox division is more secure than Skype. All and all I give
1 a 5/10 (still pass) and 360 10/10. They should role out external HDD support soon. 1 has only been out for not even 4 months yet.

 

I think when this buzz word "Next Gen" is mentioned people think only of graphical power on the console. As you have noticed forums and interwebs are full of resolution debates and which system is more powerfull etc.

To me "next gen" console and especially Xbox One is all about MMORPG's and massive open worlds without shards/servers and I hope Azure will be delivering this in near future.

While xbox 360 is great gaming system there are absolutely no good MMORPG games on it, Defiance is only one of the few MMO's and it is pants to be honest because 360 cant handle big worlds with so many players.

It is completely 'meh' though in the next 6 - 12 months maybe less 'meh' once they actually start adding more features to it (multimedia? come on ms!) and work out the issues that many still seem to have with kinect and controller syncs. My neighbor has
the one and so far has been more than a little frustrated with it.

 

@ztrooper if someone is debating on getting a powerful console between ps4 and xbox one have you ever thought yourself .. He doesn't want to game on PC?

I think most people know that pc's can be a LOT more powerful but its just that simple fact that some of us don't want to game on PC's i like gaming on consoles so when im comparing features/GFX PC's are not a factor because i don't care for them my friends
dont game on them and its just not my choice of gaming platform. Stop bringing that pc bs up lol
