Anyone else stuck in the update loop and did Xbox charge you to replace the console?

I was an early buyer and even signed up for the preview program. My Xbox is currently stuck in the new preview build update page. You can't update or play games. Xbox says even though the update came from the preview I am still at fault and will have to
pay for a replacement. I've had each console and I have had mixed results up to this point. Yet today may be the day to join the other consoles. Please share if you paid to get out the preview build fault. I've seen the sub-reddit on the subject and found
out I'm not a lone person, but one of hundreds currently stuck in the loop.

NOW FOR THE WARNING>>>>GET OUT OF THE PREVIEW PROGRAM>>>>>>IT IS YOUR PROBLEM IF THE CONSOLE BRICKS IN THE PREVIEW>>>>>>

    :)

    Xbox360 Unusable After Update

My Xbox took an update this evening. It got stuck in some sort of loop where it repeatedly wanted to download the update. After several iteration of this I cleared the system cache and re-downloaded the patch. This did not correct the problem.

Was there an update tonight, and if so, is anyone else having a problem with it? If not, what do I do?

    Thanks,

    Mike

I was invited to the previw program for the 360 after the release of the xbox one. As I recall, if a preview caused problem that MS would repair your console, and even read on this very forum where an out out warranty X1 was replaced for free... Which sounded
good to me and I almost became a member but my gut still said. "No, don't do it.".

    Currious though.

    1) Whats the error message?

    2) According to one amb here. If an update causes a problem, even out of warranty, or not part of the preview program. That MS will repair it free. Which, judging from your experence was a complete falsehood. (observation) So why does xbox contend that said
    problem is your falt?

One could only assume that an update, inside or outside the Preview Program which essentually bricks your console. Is MS's fault and not yours. So what was MS's excuse for contending that said problem was your fault?

Have you tried a hard reset?

Hold the power button down on your console until it turns off & unplug it from the mains for 5 minutes.Plug it back in & try again.

If that doesn't work, disconnect from live then do a factory reset of your console, you can chose to keep your games etc. when you reset so you wont have to download them all again.

If none of that works try posting in the insider support forums at the top of the page.

If it is found that a preview update has caused an issue with your console then they should fix it for free if it's out of warranty unless that's been changed recently.

Xbox says that anything in the preview is a your own choice and is not the fault of MS or Xbox. I was told I needed to pay 150.00 to have the update removed. The error message is the requested update is not available. I can update a thousand times and not
have a working console but I can pay to have it fixed in a month. Again the preview program is at your own choice. Don't make the same mistake trusting Xbox.

The hard reset does not work on consoles with the preview update. You can request to leave the program....but that doesn't get me out of the preview build and you can't go back to the old builds. And out of warranty console are charged 150.00 if it bricks
    in the preview........Don't do it.

Of course a hard reset can work on consoles in the insider program.Like I said, try a factory reset or try the offline diagnostic tool.

In my personal experience I have been told that if a preview update does something to your out of warranty console then you will not be charged to have it fixed.

Been in the preview since it started & never had an issue just like thousands of others.

Sadly Badger you missed where i explained how it works. 1. out of warranty consoles are not covered if bricked. Check the Hundreds of posts on the support twitter page with the same problem. 2. Check the fix update notes and stop saying what you heard from
someone else. Lastly it is not your personal experience if you did not experience it yourself, then it is just lying.

I was with Xbox throughout their history, and console errors have been a thing for Thousands.

If I've experienced something then I know it to be true. How am I lying if I've experienced something?

One of my consoles developed a disc drive error out of warranty,a member of staff told me that if it is found that this was down to a preview update then I would not have to pay to have it fixed.

The console was sent off & as they could not be 100% sure if it was the preview build that had caused it they fixed it for free out of warranty anyway.

If a member of Microsoft staff who works on the preview program tells me something then I tend to believe them over some random kid on the forums who clearly has no idea what they are talking about.

I have been with xbox since it launched,i bought the original xbox on day one.How long you have been with xbox has nothing to do with this,

It is you who is not listening even though it has been explained to you.

You can post & believe what you want,i don't care.

I never said console errors have not been a thing for thousands,i said thousands of people in the preview/insider program have not had any issues due to preview updates, maybe read something before replying next time.
