Anyone else have problems with console not always recognizing Blu Ray movies?

This is something I've noticed since I first bought the console (not a day one version - about a year into release). I'd say about 1 in every 10 Blu Ray discs I put in the machine prompts a message that the console is having trouble reading the disc. Normally
I just pop it out and put it in again, and it's fine. But it seems to be happening more than usual lately. I've tried turning off BD Live and clearing the BR cache.

Is this a common issue, or possibly indicative of other problems with my machine? I've seen other forums where people describe this happening fairly regularly, so I thought I'd check in with this group.

Blu Ray Quality?

Does anyone else have issues with the Blu Ray playback quality, I think mine is really grainy and a step down from my standalone Blu Ray player, I was going to do away with it and just use the XBO but not so sure now? Or is it my imagination?? Also
in the Blu Ray settings there is a check box for 24hz can anyone explain what that is please?

 

Chances are that dirt/dust has found it's way inside the optical drive. Happens often with my PS3 super slim but on that system. Cleaning the lens etc is easy as you have direct access to most everything.

It's not that way on a MS product. So if it were me, I would contact support and send it in for cleaning and/or replacement.

 

Why would it be just Blu Rays? It has no issues with DVD or game discs.

 

i haven't had any issue Blu-ray drive issues yet with my day one console, but i might pop a disc once a week or 2 weeks so my limited usage of the drive might be a factor, my friend's day one console started not reading discs right a few months ago, he ended
opening the X1(out of warranty) and cleaning it out, worked fine since.

 

I had an issue a few days ago where my console couldn't play blue rays and DVDs. Kept saying the hdmi cable wasn't compatible so I bought a new cable. Got the new cable but it still came up with the error so I unplugged the power cable from the console and
left it for a few hours. Tried it again later on and it was working again. Hasn't done it since *touch wood*

A friend of mine no matter what he tries his console refuses to play blue rays. It's an Advanced Warefare console so he isn't happy about it.

Mine has always had problems with blu rays, so to remedy this, I just hold the disc for a half second while the drive sucks it in, really make it work for it. This solves the problem for me 9 out of 10 times.

This is so weird, I barely use my Xbox One to play games and I don't have any issues with using Blu Rays / DVDs.

Overall, my Xbox One is almost never gets used at all. I spend almost all of my gaming on my Xbox 360 LOL

Hey guys and gals,

Might be worth trying to clear your Blu Ray cache, this can fix this issue most of the time

1.Scroll left on the Home screen to open the guide.

2.Select Settings.

3.Select All Settings.

4.Select Disc & Blu-ray.

5.Go down to Blu Ray settings

6. Then on the persistent storage option, clear it

Is also worth clearing it three or four times, and for some reason it doesn't always work the first few times Dunno, is just a trick I've learnt, and know it works for a few people, so worht a shot

I tried clearing the persistent storage and disabling BD Live. Still gives me errors sometimes. Maybe I just got a funky drive, or the BR app is poo.

 

I have the issue 95% of the time usually works on the third try though. I've had the system since day one and it's been my main player since although I do also own a ps4

 

Not really related but is it possible to take the pause bar off the screen so you can get a still image on the screen without that menu there?
