Anyone else fed up of games forcing multi-player down our throats?

It is for this reason I did not get Titanfall. I was sort of looking for forward to it until I found out it was MP only. I agree with you OP, I don't like it forced on me to that extent wherein that's the only way you can play the game. I don't mind a game
having MP, just don't cut out the SP part forcing us to play online.

anyone elses game freezing up in multi player or story mode ? any quick fixes or is this a battle field has to fix kind of thing, or is my xbox screwed up and need to get a new one?

So, I have the same issue and it had been like this for over a month. I can use Netflix, but I can't play multi-player games at all. I'm honestly fed up with this crap. Does anyone have any idea on how to fix it? I've practically done everything that was
said on YouTube, but it's still not working.

 

If a game forces multiplayer but allows for Invite Only or Private Sessions, I'm OK with it. But if it does without an Invite Only or Private Session, I'd just look for a new game. No one if forcing you to buy such a game. Invite Only sessions is where only
you and the people who have been invited can join so you can choose to close yourself off from the rest of the world and pretty much call it single player cuz it's only you in the game.

The only games that I needed to use the "Private Session" or something similar to it was for Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer and Dead Island 1.

Also tired of forced MP achievements for "MP Discovery" in games such as Assassins Creed: Brotherhood, Assassins Creed: Revelations, Assassins Creed 3, Assassins Creed 4: Black Flag. See a trend?

 

The only thing being forced down my throat lately is sushi & beer, and Im the one doing the forcing. That being said, for good or ill, MP & Internet connected SP gaming in general is here to stay.

To me it doesn't feel like MP is being forced at all. I've always had the choice. If a game is designed from the ground up to be MP, and you don't like MP, then you don't play said game. There have always still been SP options out there.

Sometimes developers will include MP just for the sake of MP, but those get largely ignored. The only game I will play online is Halo (I lasted 2 months like amost everyone else on H4, so it's been that long). The rest is all SP.

 

Nothing wrong with Co Op and MP CODukes4. So long as it stays where it belongs. Halo, CoD, Battlefield, Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon. MP does not belong in Assassin's Creed for example (millions buy it, roughly 6 thousand total online across all consoles,
clearly it is not that good leave it out for the love of god).

 

I only feel this way when it's a game like Tomb Raider which stands so well by itself in the SP that the MP did feel very forced, same as Arkham Origins, don't add a multi if it's a half arsed attempt imo.

Bioshock 2 came really close with it's MP, but in the end it was very laggy and unplayable during some matches.

I am however becoming very partial to SP which has multiplayer elements like Dark Souls and Watch Dogs.

 

titanfall is a poor example to use here. its extremely repetitive and I don't play it anymore because of that. It got boring real fast once I found its way too hard to level up once you're stuck trying to use that one gun its so hard to get kills with.

I gave up and quit playing titanfall.

Not a single game can force me to do anything I don't want to do. I simply won't play it if I don't like it. Fortunately SP or MP is irrelevant to me. I just want to have fun playing the game.

I agree with certain games multiplayer is a lost cause Nxtdoc1851 . Assassins creed is a good example of a multiplayer that just doesn't connect with the fan base, but I do think that Co op in Assassins Creed Unity is going to be awesome. We need more
open world co op games. Borderlands gave me an itch that I haven't been able to scratch since.
