    Any word on gamertag resets?


    I just wanted to know if anyone had any information on any possible gamertag resets in the near future. I had a gamertag that had been taken by someone (or something... dun dun DUN) after I changed it a few years back but it has been inactive and I am interested
    in acquiring it again.

    Op is not asking for a free gamertag change.

    No one knows when or if they will release any unused gamertags in the future,highly doubt it after last time.

    Remember gamertags are used on other services,not just xbox live,so you can't know if the tag is unused or not.

    Why is "LOL" not allowed in my motto?

    The reason is simple. MS is on a ban wave of original gamertags that have been stolen or unautherized V1 reset. The gamertag "LOL" was reset using a hack. Therefore MS console banned the user and name banned the gamertag "LOL". As a result of the name ban
    the word "LOL" cannot be put as a gamertag, in your motto, bio, name etc. All the other "normal" words that you cannot put in your profile are also stolen gamertags that have been name banned.

    Gametag was changed for being against the rules.

    That gamertag is a mashup of different words and letters. No "spell checker" can recognize whether it contains any offensive words. There isn't an employee sitting somewhere and checking every gamertag. It's automatic. Presumably someone reported your
    gamertag as offensive and then it was flagged accordingly.

    That said, if you make a gamertag with a swear word in it (alternate spelling or not,) you really shouldn't be surprised.
