Any way to do this?

So my controller broke, I have Kinect and SmartGlass to use as navigation since I currently only use my Xbox for video apps. But for one app I have not downloaded the most recent update, and it signs me out when it asks me to download it, meaning I can't
use SmartGlass to press A, and I can't use Kinect either. Is there anyway to get past this at all? Or do I just have to buy a new controller?

Any way to Auto-Update?

The console will not auto update its OS if it's switched on, you have to manually update it through settings so I'm not quite sure what updates are getting in her way? Maybe app updates like Netflix? These often start when you launch the app.

If you turn your xbox off and it's in instant on mode then it will download any available system updates and install them ready for when the console is next turned on so these should never get in your way.

Actually, FatherSama, that isn't entirely accuate. You can go into storage using your profile to copy or move a game save belonging to another profile and it will then become your game save. The catch, however, is that you are not able to unlock achievements
using this game save.

I checked around and viewed a few posts similar and I couldn't find any that said there was another way to play videos without it.

So best guess is you may have to buy a new controller.
