Any TV experts out there?

No such thing as a future proof TV, by the time you get a gen that will work with 4K, 4K might be old news.

IMO if your not using it for TV or Blu Ray player, your insane buying a 4K TV unless, the 4K is an added benefit from the other things that make a good buy, like fresh rate.

However from a quick google the Samsung JU6400 certainly isn't top of the range so your not going to future proof anything with that.

Yes some are expensive but some are cheap and should give a better idea.

 

I went with the JU6500 myself. Great monitor for my PC as well as gaming. The lower input lag and a few other things I noticed between the 2 made me go that route.

I understand that a lot of talk is about waiting for 8k. I considered that myself. But a very powerful PC with a powerful and expensive GPU is going to get you playable frame rates currently. So, it will be a while before 8k is viable. So I jumped on
the JU6500 deal I found and it has been beyond fantastic. Not really sure I would need 8k for any reason really. At least not for 5+ years. And by then I will be purchasing again I am sure.

As I said, I have the JU6500 and it is great. On the site you listed there the JU6400 seems to be rated better so I am sure it would be great as well but cannot be sure. I would just make sure that the model can do 60hz over hdmi as some I have seen say
60hz but that is just for 1080p and the 4k resolution runs at 30hz.

 

That's what it is for the Sony...1080p = 60hz. 4k = 24hz I believe.

 

Well these are the stats for PC monitor. Not sure if any of this applies to Xbox...

A lot of you have valid points, I'll just have to think everything over I suppose.

 

Chances are, if the next round of consoles can do 4k they probably wouldn't do it at 60fps, so having a monitor that does 4k if you're not going the pc route probably isn't that important tbh.

 

Sorry. I meant having a monitor that does 4k at 60hz probably isn't that important.

 

stuff tv's, get one of these and have a 10' screen to play on lol.
