Any news or rumors regarding Original Xbox console backward compitability?

I heard a rumor a few months back that Microsoft might entertain backward compatibility for the 1st Xbox (Original) console games... But there were no promises... Has this come back up at all? My original Xbox is now dead and I still have a bunch of games.
Now I can go get another on eBay but really, how much would it take to get the older games emulated on the One?

Since all support for the original Xbox ended in 2010 and publishers stopped making games backwards compatible in 2007, I think it would be highly unlikely they'd make them compatible with the One. There hasn't been any official word though.

 

I agree, however to emulate the original Xbox via software much like what they have done with the 360 would be much easier because it's was also based on an intel platform like the One. On the other hand there also wouldn't be a huge market but it is something
they could do for the hardcore gamers which still have their original consoles. But I wont hold my breathe though!
