any insight from microsoft about xbox one x HDMI failure issues?

just curious about this issue. wondering if there has been any sort of "official" recognition or explanation. my xbox one x worked on tuesday, and i went for my daily ESO login gift on wednesday and ran into what seems to be referred to as the
"black screen of death"

the problem i have ran into with my xbox one x (one year eleven months old) is that the HDMI port is no longer sending audio or video from the console to the television set.
something is going from the xbox one x console (one year eleven months old) to the television because i have a smart tv and powering the xbox one x console (one year eleven months old) on and off does the same to the television set.

i have tried everything on the support website and my xbox one x console (one year eleven months old) is clearly in need of repair by the criteria listed on the support website.

obviously, the warranty is over, because it is only a year long. while i understand that microsoft can simply say "it is out of warranty" and i am legally powerless to dispute that, i (and most other people, to be frank) also understand that a five hundred
dollar consumer electronic should not fail out of nowhere in such a manner.

as such i am curious about the following things:

-what is the root cause of this particular type of failure? i have never ran into this issue with other HDMI port- equipped electronics before, and i would like to know what caused it.

-what percentage of xbox one x consoles experience this type of failure?

-does this issue afflict consoles manufactured in a certain time span, or is there a chance that every single xbox one x produced so far can experience this type of failure?

-what did microsoft know, and when did they know it with regards to this issue?

-what is the reasoning behind video and audio not coming from the console, but a signal to turn my television on/off is coming from the console?

if you have experienced this same issue as me please contact me, as i am very curious if this issue can be encountered again after being repaired.

I own 4 xbox consoles 2 of them are One X and so far none of my 4 consoles had this problem at all, so that might be a random thing I guess

Thanks for posting here on the Xbox forums. Unfortunately, some of the information you are requesting is not available for research. i don't believe the statistics of how many consoles undergo an issue with the HDMI port, or what time frame they were manufactured,
is noted anywhere.

How it happens is usually wear and tear. If the HDMI cord is ever pulled out with decent amount of force, it could cause damage. If the cord is pushed into a wall for long amounts of time, this could cause that issue as well. This is all just speculation
though, as we would not know the exact way this issue emerged on your console.

As for "What did Microsoft know," If there was a widespread issue with the Xbox one X like this, then there should have been a statement released or an extended warranty involved. Think of how the Red ring on Xbox 360 was widespread, so the warranties of
those consoles were extended for a certain time frame.

If this is in fact a widespread issue with the hardware from the moment of purchase, then everyone experiencing this issue has to report it in some manner. If you haven't already, report
this issue through the
insider reddit .

Also as a side note, if you do end up paying for a repair (Out of warranty), then your console would come back with a 90 day warranty. That way you can test out the console, and if the issue persists for some reason you could send it back within those
90 days at no charge.

Sorry to hear it. Please try power cycling the console by holding the power button on it for 10 seconds till it shuts down. Then unplug it for 30 seconds. Then hold the Sync button (left side near the USB port on the original Xbox One and just below
the power button on the S and X consoles) and the Eject button for the console then press the power button and hold until you hear a second start up noise.

If you are using the Xbox One All Digital console then you only need to hold the Sync button and then press the power button to reset.

You should now see a new screen. Scroll over to Restart/Reset and reset the console to factory settings. There is an option to keep installed games and apps so you won't need to redownload them.

Hey there sorry to hear about the HDMI port failure, when did you buy the Xbox One X console? The store you purchased it from may still have warranty over it, it is worth a shot to try it.
