Any idea why my Xbox One suddenly stopped being able to control my TV and receiver?

As of about a week ago, my Xbox One quit turning my TV and receiver off and on. I have no idea why because it had been working fine for a very long time. I have not changed anything about my room setup or equipment.

The devices in question are a Vizio M60D1 and a Sony STRDN840. I tried removing and re-adding the TV and receiver and *that fixed the issue with the receiver*. It now correctly powers off and on with the console; however, the TV is still not working right.
I tried going through the guided setup mode on the Xbox (where it tries to send Mute commands) but that fails every time. I tried manually entering a few TV remote codes, but that also did not work.

    Some steps I've tried:

    1) unplugging all of the HMDI cables and plugging them back in

    2) changing the Xbox control settings from "On/Off" to "Toggle"

    3) restarting the console after making setting changes

    4) re-calibrating the Kinect and verifying that it works by playing a game with it

    5) going through guided TV setup mode

    6) manually entering a few TV remote codes that I found on Vizio's website

    7) powering the TV off and on manually a few times

    8) checking the TV's power settings within it's own menus

It worked fine, and then it didn't. I'd like it work again. Any help is much appreciated.

    :)

Any idea why my Xbox One suddenly stopped being able to control my TV and receiver?

    OK, so more testing tonight

    1) I went through every Remote Code I found on Vizio's website, both four and five digit codes. Within each code, I made sure to try both On/Off and Toggle signals if they were available. No dice. Receiver responds, TV does not.

    2) I connected the Xbox One directly to the TV via HDMI cable to eliminate the receiver as part of the issue. When I went to add the TV for control, the Xbox said it auto-detected the TV and knew how to control it. Great! Except it didn't. Even directly
plugged together, the Xbox cannot control the TV. Interestingly, the Xbox selected Universal Remote Code T1758 when it was plugged directly into the TV.

    3) HUGE. I brought down a different TV and connected it to the Xbox. It auto-detected and selected Universal Remote Code T2049. That worked! The Xbox was able to control the TV as expected. I even re-routed the cables so the receiver was "in the way" and
the Xbox One controlled both correctly.

So, that seems to have narrowed the issue down to some sort of bad interaction between the Xbox One and the Vizio TV. More troubleshooting...

    4) I did a factory reset and totally recalibrated the Vizio TV. It still did not respond to the Xbox One. It DOES respond totally normally to its own native controller app (via WiFi) and it responds normally to IR signals from my universal Logitech remote.

I have no idea what to try next. Going to start digging into Vizio TV issues, I suppose. I don't know why the Xbox suddenly quit controlling two devices but is now back to being able to control one of them but not the other.

I should mention that I still think the Xbox has something to do with this because the receiver will intermittently fail to respond to a power toggle sent from the console. I did a lot of testing with the Logitech remote that I've got and it sends signals
to the TV just fine. I also used the WiFi remote that came with the TV and it also responds just fine.

Something about the communication coming from the Xbox to the Vizio TV is borked.

Please note at this time I have also already tried a "soft factory reset" and then re-inputting the TV code noted above. It still works the receiver (with the occasional fault) but it will NOT power the TV on or off.

    Hi there,

in regards to thing 3 that you tried. Did you try it via the power cycle steps like mentioned on the following link, be sure to wait at least 60 seconds before powering on again:

    http://support.xbox.com/en-us/xbox-one/console/power-cycle-console

Depending on the power mode used (Energy safe mode or Instant-On) it may still have some affect.

    Let us know the results

Any idea why my Xbox One suddenly stopped being able to control my TV and receiver?

    Steps taken this morning:

-Powered on console (receiver came on, TV did not)

-Manually turned on TV using a remote control

-Went into settings and removed TV

-Re-added TV using model number entry

-Closed out of settings to Home

-Powered down console by holding power button (Receiver did NOT shut off, nor did TV)

-Unplugged console, set timer for 60 seconds

-Manually turned off receiver and TV

-Powered on console (receiver came on, TV did not)

-Went into settings again, changed Device Control power options from On/Off to Toggle

    -Closed out Settings to Home

-Powered down console by holding power button (Receiver and TV again did NOT shut off)

-Unplugged console, set timer for 60 seconds

-Powered on console (receiver and TV stayed on as normal but TV SHOULD have toggled off, yeah?)

-Went into settings just to look around

-Used controller to send "Turn off console" command

-Receiver turned off, TV did not

-Manually turned off TV using remote (note the TV accepts both Power Off and Toggle commands from remote)

-Used controller to power on Xbox

    -Receiver powered on as expected

    -TV did not power on

-Used controller to send "Turn off console" command (yes, I remember how to do this without the TV being on)

-Left for work because it's that time, haha

    Please help!

    Xbox One Kinect Stopped Working

My XBoxOne suddenly stopped working last night as well. Was there an update recently or something? In addition to my Kinect suddenly bricking, it also stopped turning my TV & receiver off/on. The heck's going on?
