Any Idea on when an Inactive Gamer tag reset will happen?

Was it not 3yrs? I could be mistaken, but you have 2 slight options, one being message the account and try arrange a possible reasonable deal if it's active and number two would be a pain but message xbox for advice but im pretty sure all they can do is
say just wait

The last gamertag release was actually in 2016. They are no longer doing mass gamertag releases. As of August 30, 2019, if a person does not sign into their Microsoft account for 2 years, the account will be closed. So 2021 would be the earliest a gamertag
may be released. But even if the tag isn't being used on an Xbox, if the person who owns it is still using their Microsoft account for other Microsoft services, it won't be released.

It was actually 5 years (which started in 2016), but lowered to 2 in 2019.

Damn it. The account has been inactive for at least 8 years.

When does Microsoft deem an account inactive long enough to warrant that "purge" of inactive gamer tags?

As previously stated on my first post, When an Xbox live member chooses an Xbox gamer-tag, they have the full rights to keep that gamer-tag even know if they have been inactive for years along with no gamer-score & no gold membership, The owner of the gamer-tag
must change it himself or when a forced gamer tag change is imposed due to the gamer-tag violated the code of conduct in any sort of way, Other than that, Your out of luck. Sorry.
