Any 1999 mode tips?

So I am almost done playing the game on hard. Though all was going great until I got to emporia and that is where it is starting to get crazy. I died about 5 times at the part with all the vox and then the handy man comes in. Might have just been that I
didn't have the right guns at the start..or what but wow..that handy man just destroys me...and I cant hide from him on buildings because he is like the hulk and can jump high. I managed to get through it but now I am on the Siren part and man she is pretty
hard. Died about 4 times in the graveyard now I am at the bank part. The vigors I have been using the most are Shock Jockey (BioShock 1 Favorite) and Devils Kiss. However I see a lot of people using undertow..might have to give that more of a try. I don't
really switch vigors a lot. Not a fan of charge. But yeah if anyone has any tips for me going into 1999 mode that would be great. I am also going to try and get the achievement for not using Dollar bill machine, I am preparing myself for this by not using
it on hard. I use Machine gun and Shotgun a lot.

1. Firstly: Do not be afraid to drop your gun to use another an enemy has dropped if you are currently low on ammo. If you're carrying a sniper rifle and a shotgun, and the shotgun is low, dropping it to pick up a fallen hand cannon will help you get through
   fights. Retrieve your shotgun when you can, and if you can't, just keep using the handcannon until you find another. If you're accurate with your shots, you may not need to do this, but it is helpful in a pinch.
   
2. Switch your gear consistently given the situations. If you played the Industrial Revolution pre-order game (I think you can get these as DLC now) , you'll have the Handyman Nemesis boots which gives you 50% more damage, as well as the Extra! Extra! hat
   that gives you Silver Eagles whenever you come across voxophones. But even if you don't, remember to switch up things if you're going to be fighting on skylines, like at the beginning of Emporia. For example, I usually keep the Blood to Salt hat equipped so
   that my Salts recharge when I kill enemies. But when fighting at the beginning of Emporia, I'll probably switch to Winter Shield to give me invulnerability when using the Skylines.
   
3. Some people disagree with me on this, but the easiest way to deal with the Siren is to have a fully-upgraded Charge followed by shotgun blasts. Just keep charging and blasting. The fully-upgraded charge will do splash damage to help deal with her minions,
   and it will also recharge your shields. You should also equip Gear that does Fire damage for melee strikes, such as Pyromanic, as death by fire (or electricity) will disintegrate her minions and prevent them from respawning.
   
4. In the final fight, use Return to Sender traps and cover the exposed front of the engine core of the Hand of the Prophet with them They will absorb enemies' incoming shots and keep the fight going so you don't have to worry about defending it.
   
5. Don't be afraid to backtrack if you've left food or salts behind in other buildings, especially early in the game.
   

 

I would also recommend dropping the machine gun for either the sniper rifle, handcannon, or carbine. In my experience, they are better for hitting enemies at range. However, you know your play style better than I, so don't switch up if that would put you
at a disadvantage.
