Ants in my Xbox One S

Hi,

a few days ago I noticed a few ants coming in and out of the ports of my Xbox One S. I am not sure why this was happening as the desk was clean and free of any food/drink. I moved my Xbox to a new location hoping the ants would disperse by themselves, however,
it seems there are still quite a few ants coming in and out of the vents of the Xbox. My Xbox is still under warranty so can I send it to Microsoft to be professionally cleaned or am I going to have to take it apart myself to get rid of the ants? I am afraid
if there are a large number of ants in there they may damage/short circuit some of the electrical components.

Hi Niko1664, yes lol, thanks for your reply.

So i've gone through creating a repair order and it seems I can send it to Microsoft, however, I am not sure if they are going to do anything with it when received since it works fine - is internal cleaning a service they provide? So far, I haven't spayed
any insecticides as i don't want to damage any of the components though i might spray some around the console to try and dissuade the squatters.

Hi, probably some sweet/sugar has fallen inside through the upper ventilation holes? Indeed it is pretty unusual.

If that’s the case though, ghese ants will stop going there once they have cleaned everything. The console is working all right ?

If it still under warranty, you can try to send it but actually... it works, so..... don't open it by yourself, you will loose the warranty. Have you tried some light insecticides near the machine or around the desk to prevent these ants from taking shelter
in your console ?

Wow. I have never heard of that. That is really unfortunate. I would recommend contacting Xbox Support https://support.xbox.com/contact-us and PERHAPS you can send it in, and receive a brand new one. I would also do a Massive clean up of your gaming set
up, headsets, wires, TV, TV Stands, any lamps nearby, etc....do a complete 200% cleaning...even game discs, game cases, etc. You literally never know. I hope everything works out for you.

UPDATE: so it turns out the ants had invaded both my Xbox One S and my Astro A50 headset mixamp...I ended up taking both apart (my Xbox warranty ends today anyway) and using a leaf blower to clean the ants and their eggs out of the mix amp as there were
ALOT of them in there (more than what were in the Xbox - it sounded like a maraca when shaking it due to the ant eggs :/ ). After i took the Xbox apart, there were two groups of the ants huddled together on either side of the mother/circuit board which i cleaned
out using some paper towel. I have put both devices back together and they work fine and are now ant free
