Anthem crashing Xbox completely

Dear Xbox support and fellow gamers,

I have had twice now that, whilst playing Anthem, my 6 month old Xbox One X completely crashes and even fully powers off. Last time on restarting power, not one of my other games succeeded in launching. They just seemed kind of stuck after the first or second
loading screen/title screen. Like a storage issue. I had to fully power off the Xbox and remove the power cable before I could use it again normally.

Please fellow gamers, reply on this thread if you are having the same issues as me. Xbox support, would be nice if you can contact me to troubleshoot this before my Xbox really 'breaks'.

I have done some investigating and found several other topics of people with similar issues, even on PS.

In your settings under power and start-up do a full shutdown of the system. You can always try to uninstall the game and reinstalling it not sure if that would do anything if your console is having hardware issues though.

We have converted this thread into a question only so that we can support this issue with troubleshooting rather than discuss who else is experiencing the same thing.

Firstly, this will not "break" your console.

This is more than likely a game error, to which BioWare will be continuing to update Anthem so that issues like these do not occur. I personally enjoy playing Skyrim on my Xbox One X and experience crashes here and there due to the use of in-game mods.

To troubleshoot issues such as these, we recommend using the restart console option:

Restart your console

Press the Xbox button
to open the guide.
Note Pressing the Xbox button
will open the guide from any other screen on the console.
Select Settings.
Select Restart console.
Select Yes to confirm.

Note If you're unable to access the guide or if the console appears to be frozen, press and hold the
Xbox button on the console for about 10 seconds until the console turns off. After the console shuts down, touch the
Xbox button on the console again to restart.

We also recommend attempting to uninstall and install the game on your Xbox One console.

Try these suggestions and let us know if this helps.

Sorry to hear you're having issues with Anthem. Does the game seem to be working fine after you power cycles your Xbox?

Personally, I have not had any technical issues playing Anthem, but I have seen several support request across platforms.

Game works fine now but would be nice to know that this is being investigated/fixed and what's happening.

Also have no idea what's happening inside this Xbox when it's just stuck nor whether any part of my Xbox is being damaged/overtaxed. Xbox fully shutting down is not normal.

I can certainly understand the frustration. As the moderator pointed out this issue will not break your console and will hopefully be patched.

Hope you are enjoying Anthem outside of any technical issues! I definitely am.
