Antagonist or "Bad Guys" in games who aren't actually bad?

Sometimes we play games where the people who we are fighting are just evil for the sake of being evil.

But occasionally we will run into a so called villain who actually isn't a horrible person.

They're just doing what they think is right.

These kind of characters add complexity to the games and make you think.

Such characters like Saren Arterius from Mass effect and Loghain Mac Tir from Dragon Age: Origins come to mind.

What characters do you know that give out this kind of vibe?

The reasoning for "Him" doing what needed to be done was all based on data and what was programmed for it to do.

As a Solas romancer, I agree with this. Naturally, I said I wanted to go with him but it would serve no purpose what he is doing. Really can't wait for The Dread Wolf rises though!

Halo 2 is the first game that i played, that can remember seeing that the bad guy isn’t the bad guy.

I can think of one or 2 but feel like it may spoil the plot of the game by mentioning them as a lot of the story is based on that fact.

One of my all time favourite "bad guy" characters is Galen Marek /
Starkiller from the Force Unleashed games. I had a blast playing those games, such fond memories. Another more recent one would be Arthur Morgan from Red Dead 2.
