Another user w/ Controller Firmware Update Issues

I have this same issue and it IS a problem. I manually updated my firmware for each of my controllers BEFORE getting by XO Seven. Now whenever I plug in the headset it prompts me to update firmware (although the sound is already working). When I try and
update it fails without giving an error, then my controller will no longer sync.

This is incredibly annoying and I hope that MS either fix the console's firmware to stop asking me to update or release another firmware update for the controller which fixes the syncing issue.

Good news: I might know the cause of your issue

Bad news: You need an Xbox One console or newer to fix it

In the recent months connectivity issues of controllers skyrocketed due to the new controller firmware updates. At least the problem is listed in the known issues of the Xbox system updates. Another user on this forum posted a guide here to rollback the firmware to a previous version.

Note that reverting the firmware turns off auto updates for the controller and remember to connect it via USB for Xbox One controllers when downgrading/upgrading to not potentially brick it.

If you do not have access to the console version of the Xbox Assist app try looking for an firmware update in the Xbox Accessories app found in the Microsoft Store on PC.

If factory resetting your Xbox did not work, then you would need to wait until another update comes to the console or the controller and see if the issue persists. Do you have another headset to test if the issue persists on it?

Also, updating your controller firmware again did not help the audio? As you mentioned that with the new firmware the audio was not working only on MLB.

Try another controller with fresh batteries if it still does that then you might be facing a firmware/ software issue that can be fixed by an update if MS release one soon for controllers.

Sorry to hear you are having issues with the Elite controller. It doesn't need a firmware update does it? Have you tried resetting it by taking out the batteries?

If none of that works, it may well be a hardware issue.
