Another unfair Microsoft charge

This is more a rant than a question...I have been a loyal Xbox Live customer and lover for the past nine years. I bought my first xbox probably over 12 years ago when I was 11, and have not owned another system. Because I loved playing Xbox so much over
the years, I paid for 5 xbox 360's after each of them broke. I had the red ring of death, my fan stopped working twice, my disc reader wouldn't read discs, and another problem that I cannot remember. Given it all, I have devoted much of my life earnings into
xbox; today I accidentally paid to have my gamertag changed because it is advertised as being free on the xbox website...mind that I have had the same gamertag for nine years... I called microsoft to report the problem, but all sales are final. I hate after
being so devoted to a company for half of my life, spending literally thousands of dollars (which to a teenager is significant) that Microsoft still feels the need to walk all over me. I guess when you have money and power you honestly don't need to care about
the smaller guy.

Another Microsoft rip off we don't have to deal with. Slowly but surely the users will weed out all the unfairness Microsoft forces on it's customers. Microsoft always does this. They see who will buy in to there scams at launch and slowly adapt for everyone else who sees there practices as unfair.

I have the same problem, being charged for services not delivered, I refuse to pay. *** you Xbox.

 

It's only free if you are given an automatically generated gamertag when you create a new account, otherwise you have to pay.

Yep cause this isn't misleading at all; considering I have never changed my gamertag in 9 years of having xbox live. I understand that when you sign up they let you make it whatever you want, but that is before you have ever been connected to xbox live gold
before. Its not like they're really giving it to you for free, you're just allowed to change it once you've signed up for gold. Yes I did know this already, and yes I'm an idiot for thinking that a free change would apply to me, but I was mislead by them saying
"change it once for free". I thought since I recently bought an Xbox One, maybe the free change was applied to me, but I don't know why I thought that.

 

I created my account and was given a random name. I changed it to my new name (because Ultimate Jessica Drew is awesome) for no charge.

It applies to your account, not when you buy a new console. Perhaps you could recommend that it should at
Xbox Ideas, powered by UserVoice.

I feel you on that I do, but being a customer for so long you should of know that it was goin to charge you. now that Xbox Support wasn't goin to give you a refund or something is beyond me. but then again if you had that gamer tag for sometime... why change
it... a lot of people know you by "Name" so keep it that way... good or bad... at least you know that youll always be in someones mouth!! LOL!!!!

 

The people at Xbox support should of told you that as soon as you make an account you will have 30 days to change it for free or it will charge you.....

 

You don't have 30 days to change it.

As long as it's still the generated tag given to you when you start your account there's now no time limit on when you can change it for free.
