ANOTHER MS Money for Live Gold thread, yes I know the "rule"

OK I understand Microsoft says currency cards cannot be used for xbox live gold. This is their stance even though the card itself says nothing about this, even in the fine print. I thought I was purchasing money for a renewal with a $50 xbox card. I checked
on the xbox website and found this in the redeem code page:

This is false advertising pure and simple. Perhaps a class action lawsuit is in order. All I want is to use the prepaid code towards extending my son's xbox live gold subscription, as the website says. I will also accept a refund. Anyone from MS care to
comment?

Yeah but they've already taken your money when you rent the thing. One person swearing they will never rent another server ever again because EA close it is hardly going to hit their profits when 10 other people will rent servers and keep to the rules,
thus giving EA more money when those 10 people sink more money into keeping their servers running after the lease has expired.

It's kind of like saying Microsoft won't ban you for modding in MW3 because they already make so much money with Gold subscriptions and MS points.

The "prepaid code" refers to purchasing a pre-paid subscription card, eg a 3-month or 12-month card which when applied to an account extend the membership period.

 

Thanks for the reply. I understand *now* that is the intention, but that is not what the xbox website says. It simply says prepaid code, not "There are two different types of prepaid codes ..." Microsoft is worth billions, surely they can afford someone
to proofread their web content? I feel absolutely deceived and am starting to think it was purposeful.

 

MyShockedFace, the ONLY ways you have EVER been able to buy gold is either with a credit card/paypal or with a prepaid subscription card. This has always been the way. Nothing has changed. You bought a prepaid code for currency not a prepaid code for Xbox
Gold subscription. That is where you are getting hung up on with the web site. They say you can buy live with a prepaid code not with currency in your account. The currency cards themselves state right on the front of the cards "Buy games, music*, movies
and TV shows." You'll notice the lack of anything mentioning subscriptions to Xbox Live Gold. Reading is fundamental!
