Another miffed preview member has a few suggestions

Seriously? I get home and want to play a game or watch a movie.. Nope, 4 gig download waiting for me when I turn on the console. Since my internet is crap that is 4 *** hours. SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK. So when my friends want me to hop in and join them I am

Want to leave the preview program? Well you need to download this update because you need to be online to access the preview app to opt out of the program.

Here are my suggestions:

1: Allow me to download the *** updates whenever they are available instead of forcing them on me when I turn on the console. Seriously, Sony does (did?) this. The update downloads whenever then you apply it when you next turn on the console. You turn on
the console and "System update X.X has been downloaded and needs to be applied, go to system options to apply update" It isn't that hard.

2: Let me pause the download. My internet sucks. During the update I can do NOTHING else and even chatting on IRC lags a lot. If I need to stop the download for whatever reason I should be able to.

Youtube Crashing

Same exact problem here and I am a preview member. YouTube screen loads and the console shuts down. Started happening a few days ago. Xbox One just released another update today, but problem remains.

 

If your console is on "Instant on" it should download the update when it's available automatically. Instant on does have a trade off where your console will become slower after a certain period of use because background applications don't automatically close.

The updates usually come out at 6PM PDT so if you're available at that time you can check for an update. If you no longer wish to get updates daily (even though it's probably temporarily till the public release of it) you can choose to opt out by opening
the Preview App, clicking on "registration" selecting "Change" and "remove"

If you want to make suggestions for the preview program I suggest going to the Preview forums instead
