Another "Keep getting disconnected every few minutes" Problem

I know there have been many of these threads on here, but I didn't want to hijack someone else's post.

So yeah, like most other people, my Xbox 360 keeps getting randomly disconnected from Live, for no reason at all.

I can say it DOESN'T happen on my Xbox One, only the Xbox 360. I've had both of them on at the same time. When I see the 360 get disconnected, I switch to the One and see that it's still connected just fine.So I KNOW the 360 is at fault here.

My connections last about 10 minutes before kicking me off. Sometimes though, the connection lasts LESS than one minute at a time.

So far, the record number is 6 disconnects in 1 hour. On top of that, I cannot reconnect until either...

    1) I've ran a network connection test, or...

    2) I wait 5 minutes.

This almost leads me to believe the problem lies with the 360's wireless adapter. The reason I cannot reconnect for 5 minutes is the adapter resetting, maybe? I don't know.. I'm just theorizing. While it's connected, it's stable and shows no reason for it
to happen. the router is literally 4 meters away in the same room.

But either way, it's getting VERY INCREDIBLY annoying.. every 60 seconds. Seriously.

    :)

KEEP GETTING DISCONNECTED EVERY FEW MINUTES

To be honest, a wireless bridge is the only thing you'd WANT to use this router for. Even with the excellent DD-WRT firmware, this item is a poor choice as a router. Why? Because the range of this router is just terrible. And that applies not
only to the 5Ghz "N" band (which has more limited range on all routers), but also to the standard 2.4Ghz B/G/N band. The range of this router is not ideal on any band. And that's a big problem for a wireless router. If you are replacing an older "G" wireless
router that has served you well, but which you feel is getting a bit long in the tooth (and you want that newfangled "N" band you've been hearing about), this is most certainly NOT the router for you. You will most certainly be disappointed with the range
compared to any decent "G" router.

The wireless router wireless settings need to be configured and the the wireless card in the computer and XBOX needs to be configured with the Netgear wireless settings.

    Follow these steps

    1. Connect the wireless router to your computer with a LAN cable.

    2. Start your browser and enter the router's configuration URL

    3. Enter the router setup login and password

    4. Change the admin password

    5. Go to the wireless settings and change the default SSID and turn off SSID broadcast.

    6. Setup encryption key the strongest is WAP2

    7. For further security measures - turn on MAC address filtering and enter the MAC address of the wireless cards on the computer/s you want to connect to this wireless router.

    8. Record the settings you have made and keep it in a safe place and Save the settings.

    9. Configure the wireless cards on the computer/s with the SSID and encryption settings of the router.

    10. Remove the LAN cable between the router and the computer then the computers should be able to connect to the router.

I don't receive any error codes, no. It just disconnects. And if I try to reconnect right away, it just tells me my console cannot connect to the internet (or Xbox Live).

As for the network test results:

    W: 0000 - 0021

    X: 0000 - F001

    Y: 20A8 - 4840

    Z: 0000 - 0000

    L: 0015 - 10F0

    Q: 8007 - 0435

    T: Wireless

    A: 192.168.0.2 / 255.255.255.0

    G: 192.168.0.1

    D: 192.168.4.100 / 192.168.8.100

OK, well now it won't sign in at all. Just says a problem occurred while singing in.

No error codes or anything, no Xbox Live service alerts. Just won't sign in now.

    OK, WELL NOW....

    Error Code 1: 8015190E

    Error Code 2: 80151904

The ONLY suggestion I get is to reboot my router, which has not helped in the slightest. It refuses to connect to Xbox Live, despite that there seems to be NO service alert for Xbox Live, other than the IGN app.

Again, I had my Xbox One on at the same time... and it was signed in the WHOLE time, so there is clearly nothing wrong with Xbox Live as far as I can tell.

    WHAT IS GOING ON?!

    G: 192.168.0.1

D: 192.168.4.100 / 192.168.8.100[/quote]I'm not sure if this is ment as a typo, but why is it that the primary DNS server and secondary DNS server both reside on different subnets, or broadcast
domains (192.168.4.0 & 192.168.8.0)? I assume the prefeix for both of these two is the same as for the 192.168.0.0/24. I wouldn't bother, except these two are private addresses within your local network. I find this a bit odd, that these addresses
are not whithin the same broadcast domain as the default gateway address for your console.

Is it possible for you to try a wired solution with your console?

    Thanks!

Can you look at the DNS information on your Xbox One and tell us if your Xbox One also have its DNS information set to 192.168.4.100 for primary and 192.168.8.100 for secondary.

And no, it wasn't a typo. That is what my Primary and Secondary DNS IP addresses are automatically set to. And the Xbox One has the same DNS IP address.

I'll try a wired connection when I can. I don't currently have an ethernet cable long enough.

Also, just now in a one hour gaming session, it disconnected 4 times (the 4th one seconds before I posted this).

    I'm curious about something.

When I'm using an App such as YouTube, the Xbox 360 never disconnects. It works perfectly for hours and hours.

I only get disconnections when playing a game. But this lead to me think about something... is it possible that you get disconnected if your Xbox 360 is NOT using the internet connection?

For instance, YouTube needs a constant internet connection so it's always in use. When I'm playing a game, such as a single player game, I'm not technically using the internet... not co-op, 2 player or anything.

Is this possible? Or is this something that wasn't actually implemented into the Xbox 360?

I HAD SAME ISSUE FOR ABOUT A MONTH ( SO ANNOYING) Anyway after trying everything i stumbled apon the solution ( for me anyway)....it should work for you.

Disconnect or turn off all wifi connected devices on your hub (xbox/phone etc)

Reset hub . Reconnect your laptop or phone so u can access the hubs settings.

...Change your wifi channel on the virgin hub to a less crowded one (download a wifi detecting app on your phone (i used netgears app to detect busy channels on my virgin hub.) Save settings.

Turn off hub and disconnect all cables for 5 minutes ......meanwhile....

clear cache on xbox then delete your xbox live profile (profile only)

    Clear cache again.

Then turn of xbox and disconnect from mains etc for 5 minutes also.

power up your hub/router. Wait 5 minutes. Connect xbox and power up.

Do the standard network tests on xbox.

    re download profile.

    connect to live

PROBLEM should hopefully be solved.....worked for me anyway (after a couple tries with different wifi channels)

    hope that helps
