Another 2 consoles one house question

I just bought a Series X bundled with Gamepass Ultimate. My plan was to move our One S to the kids room so we could play on both at the same time. I've already searched for how to do this, and while it sounds possible, I can't seem to get it to work. I would've expected this to not be such a hassle, especially for the stand alone purchased games.

I have set the One S for the kids as the Home console, which seems counterintuitive, but is what all the posts say to do. But then what? Right now, my one account is signed into both consoles because we haven't really needed multiple logins. Do I need to log out the One S and stay logged into the main Series X? Does the One S need it's own dedicated account? Do either need a guest account?

A dummy level step by step guide would be great, if anyone has one.

The account that has the subscription active can share that suscription in the console selected as the home Xbox of that account, once this is done, any account that you use in that console will have access to the service, as long as the account has that console as the home Xbox, only one home Xbox per account

The other console can use the account that has the subscription and the games while it's logged in

So, next question is - did you purchase this item on THIS console, or on another one and transfer it over?

And, if so, were you connected to XBL while at your friend's house, or were you playing offline?

The easiest way to do it is create another account as you can't have the same account active at the same time on more than one console.

If there is more than 2 consoles in the house then I'd create a family account as you get 4 accoutns for the price of 2, otherwise I'd just create another account and have one for yourself on one console and one for the kid or kids on the other but sometimes
even with more than 1 child in the house can warrant to have a family account so that each child can have access to their own account.
