Annyoing high pitched noise from fan

Bought an XO last december. Havn't used it much due to being away from home.

Now that I'm back again and I began playing Watch Dogs, I've noticed its got a really annoying high pitched noise, coming from the fan. I've tried to capture it on video;



Its there constantly. Sounds like something is blocking the fan slightly. Can hear it clearly from my couch 2meters away - it gets annoying after just a couple of minutes.

Really disapointed as I had read its praised for being silent. Is it just normal so I have to sell it and buy a PS4 or is it broken?

My Xbox one elite console 1TB making high pitched noise

Okay so when my fan on my xbox one slowly starts making a high pitched noise then when the fan is warm it makes a high pitched squeaky noise not mega loud but lets just say if I didn't have headphones I wouldn't be able to play it

Any advice guys it's still under warrenty with the store I bought it from Is it something very bad am I in trouble with my xbox one?

 

Clicking noise?

I have my Xbox One on Standby but I don't hear the clicking noise. I can only hear a high pitched fan noise coming form the power brick.

 

Today I noticed it gets slightly louder when I played WD for more than an hour.

Noone who has input on this?

it's not normal for that sound to be produced by the system. I would try blowing some canned air into the system (just through the vents) and see if you can clear it that way. other then that you can start a service request by calling 1 800 4MY XBOX or by
clicking here to start a repair :
support.xbox.com/.../warranties-and-repair

it could be that it layed unused for a while and got all dusted up. I have had mine since day 1 and it's nice and silent, mind you it's on a lot.

Dust is not the issue, as its been packed away.

I just hope MS can fix it. Really disapointed as I cannot use it for bluray etc. and I have to turn volume up a lot to drown out the annoying buzz.

 

So it just came back from repair - xbox still makes the annoying high frequent noise.

Gonna sell it and get a PS4. A shame after so many years of being a happy MS customer.

 

does it do it when you play games ?

 

The PS4 is literally twice as loud as the Xbox One when you're playing games. If the noise in that YouTube video upsets you, you're going to be seriously disappointed when you play Watch_Dogs on the PS4!

I'm not trying to be funny. Eurogamer did some noise tests using a decibel meter. When gaming, the Xbox One reading was 42 dB. The PS4 was 51. As decibels are measured using a logarithmic scale, a difference of 10 dB is twice as loud to the human ear.

 

My Xbox is defiantly quieter than my ps4 .

However the noise that comes from the x1 kinnect less Icahn be very annoying due to the pitch level which you can't really hear on the clip.

 

Davetron, the noise is there always, but does get quite louder after playing for a while. Its why I can't use the X1 for other than gaming (ironically, considering MS's strategy with multimedia). Watching a BR movie with that noise is just... ugh.

Sigma, I know the PS4 is louder. But I hope the noise won't be as annoying. From what I heard at a friends house on his PS4, its more of a loud fan rather than high frequent buzz. I can live with that. The X1 almost gives me headache after listening to it
for longer periods. I am sensitive to noise, which is why I don't have plasma tv screens either and I have build my own computer with quiet fans and noise isolating case.
