Annoying noise issue. [thread was deleted]

As many of you may know, a few days ago i started a second thread about the "coil whine" problem with allmost every new console. the one thread we allready had was marked as "answered". therefor i tried to bring some more attention from the ms staff to this
issue. within 3 days the thread had more than 100 reply's and we gathered some good information, because the ms guys did not answer!

As i wanted to check the latest posts on this thread i saw that it was deleted... without any comment from the mods.

Is this how you how you handle your problems nowaday's microsoft?

TomRalphio is most likely right.

Sometimes dust can build up on the fan, that would cause an unnecessary strain on it which might make it a little noisier.
I would not recommend using compressed air on the fan, as you most likely would have to open the console in order to do so, breaking the seal of warranty.

I'm sure it bothers you as it would me, so my advise is to contact support.

Are all you guys just keeping your console till they release a statement? I'm on my third one and they all had it (from 3 different stores in Holland). Don't know what to do

 

I bought the bundle forza/fifa kinectless xbone, and got coil whine.

I just returned mine to the online shop I bougth it. Have to wait a couple of days for a new one.

The support guy did not expect me to get the bundle again with forza/fifa, as they where sold out.

So I would get a non-bundle kinectless.

I don't know if the coil whine is more frequent for the bundles,

Might be agood thing I don't get the bundle this time, I will tell if no bundle is better.

 

I mainly ask because i'm scared the store won't take it back if i wait too long

Also most people have the same program without the bundle version (me too)

Yes but replacing through microsoft will probably take weeks whereas from your store you bought it you can walk out with a new one.

 

I went to the store and got a replacement, it still had the same issue, but it is way more quiet and it's basically endurable. I'm going to enjoy my games for now and wait for Microsoft to make an official statement about this issue (which they should've
already done).

It's no point in returning it, because all newer consoles are basically afflicted. I just hope MS says something soon, because if this is really a hardware failure than I don't want it anymore.

 

It's already known its a hardware issue. It is a defective coil on the motherboard that's making the noise.

The noise isn't limited to the kinectless xboxs I have a day one edition November 2013 model and its has that same noise but its not very noticeable unless your close to the console. Now this noise changes with playing a game and exiting a game and the noise
changes if I have kinect plugged in and Turing kinect on and off through kinect settings . also I never have my Xbox in instant on mode but for this purpose I tried it in instant on and what do you know the noise got worse and I can hear it in a quiet room.
So it is not the hard drive since the HDD has nothing to do with kinect on or off changing the noise. It is a software setting that in a low power state aka off in instant on mode or idling at the dashboard with kinect turned off. So the next firmware update
they need to change power settings to keep it from making the noise. And the Xbox probably be faster if it wasn't trying to throttle down power all the time like a laptop running off a battery
