Annoying Cortana Popup on Bootup.

I do not want to use Cortana so I have it disabled. But now everytime I boot up my Xbox One console it keeps popping up a notification forcing me to enable the Cortana. Is there any way to shut this annoying pop-up warning off? I'm tired of being told to
enable Cortana every time I turn on my Xbox. I don't want to use Cortana. Why can't the Xbox understand that and just drop the subject? Not only do I gey that dumb Cortana pop-up, now I also get those sound effects that play every time I use the controller
to turn on the console. What the hell are they doing to this console? Thy're making it worse with every update!!

I've set up an Xbox One S for my parents as a media hub. I've turned Cortana off because they actually use "Hey, Cortana" on their Windows 10 notebook PC--often in the same room as the Xbox. They keep getting Cortana popup messages, not unlike the pervasive

P.S. Microsoft, having the option to use Cortana with the word "Xbox" instead of "Hey, Cortana" would be the ideal solution, but we really need to know how to stop these messages now.

 

I'm not getting any help from Xbox support on Twitter what so ever. Does anybody know how to disable this Cortana pop up? I do not want to use it so why does it keep asking me to turn it on everytime I boot up my console?

 

Hey there, DogRox1! It looks like Twitter got back to you since you tweeted at them when they were close to closing. They work hard to make sure to everyone, and I'm happy to see they were able to get to you this morning.

Like TE said, give it a few days. If you are still seeing it after that, I suggest turning Cortana on and back off, then waiting a few days again.

I don't want to enable it. I don't even want it on my system. If I enable it that means I have to agree on each page instead of canceling out. And I do not want to approve it because I don't agree to having it installed on my system to begin with, that's
why I do not want to enable it.

 

Sometimes you have to do what you don't want to get what you do.

 

so why give us the option to agree or not to agree if we HAVE to do it anyways? isn't that a form of being hijacked? forcing us to do something that we don't want to do? Just wondering that's all?

 

As Miss Quinzel stated enabling her and disabling her will most likely fix it and prove no harm to the console.

You can always go back to the standard Xbox voice commands if that is the issue.

And Cortana is already installed to the system it just requires a launch like a PC program it will install the appropriate files / code / directory's and once it gets launched it'll require you to agree to it's TOC / TOU. And since Cortana only collects
voice samples i don't see the harm in it if you find it a privacy issue as well. You can always disable voice samples in the end anyways

Then why does it give me the option to agree or not agree on initial startup? And I DO NOT agree with it. so I shouldn't be forced to install or setup something I do not want and that should be the end of it. But apparently they are FORCING me to agree
to something and setup something that I chose NOT to do.

 

Forcing us to install something even after disagreeing to the terms of use, is the fact of being hijacked. This is nothing but useless bloatware that installs automatically that we can't control and uses up our only limited resources. That's why I refuse
to have it installed or setup like you say. I don't want it set up on my system. I don't want this bloatware on my xbox that I paid 500 bucks for.

 

DogRox1 - Please attempt the troubleshooting step. You have the option to disable Cortana on a device that we update the OS on. You have done that. If the prompt does continue to appear, you need to attempt the steps, as they will likely resolve you.

The Summer update has been widely advertised as having Cortana coming with it. If you have not agreed to the
Terms of Use (which you have to to sign into your account), you will need to do that to continue using your account. The terms clearly state:

Unless you are talking about Cortana's terms, in that case, you've already disabled her and do not require further assistance.

If you would like her even more removed, you are more than welcome to post it up on the
Feedback site. However, disabling her is the only way to not have her on your console at this time.

If you continue seeing her offer it after start up after a few days, please attempt the suggestion I posted above. After that, if she's still prompting for it, we will want to dig into that further, but we cannot until that has been attempted. If
you continue to be combative, we will be unable to assist you. Thanks for understanding.

 

hello, first of all I am not being combative. I'm just stating the facts. There was an option to not to choose to use Cortana and that's what I did as I do not approve it. So it should be done with. But it looks I have to install it and have it set it up,
just for me to be able to disable it? Does that make any sense? seriously and I'm asking politely? Who knows what this Cortana is going to do to my system or how much precious resources it's going to use up after it is installed and setup. Just because it
is disabled doesn't mean it's not going to be there. we seem to have lost control of everything we buy. First it was the win os now with the Xbox One console. :-( Big brother is watching us!!

 

Double tap the xbox button and go to apps there you can turn her off buddy

 

Hey Darrencolley he is refusing to her TOS and therefore cannot turn her off without turning her on which he is kinda refusing to do at the moment.

And DogRox1 it's like a PC program as i said it's already installed it just requires you too launch it and agree to whatever it wants you to agree to. You agreed to the Xbox lives TOU i don't see the problem with agreeing to cortana she is an added feature
an addition to the console and you would need to accept it.

Can you provide a reason why you don't want cortana on your console? I'm curious on why you dislike her if you don't want to say it publicly you can PM me at any time.
