Hello I am having an annoying problem with my xbox elite controller. After having one for about a year I started playing Banjo Kazooie on Rare replay and noticed that in certain directions banjo felt muddy and would refuse to run and only walk instead. Frustrated
by this I went in to the controller app to see what the stick sensitivity was and noticed that the controller wasn't registering the furthest inputs of the directions. After much fiddling around and excepting defeat I decided that my controller was probably
faulty and bought a new one. Problem is the new one which has just come through is also broken.

Also weirdly enough the same day someone on Facebook posted that theirs was doing the same as well. Which is making me think that its a firmware update that has broken the controllers analogue zones.

Is there any news on a fix?

My one controller is not registering up direction on the left stick, is this fixable.

Xobox One Controller stuck in the down position when trying to play games on windows

Every time I try to play a game the interface will only register down no mater what direction I press on the analogue stick.

Hey Flipsy! I just checked and am not having the same issue on my Elite Controller, I would suggest taking the new controller back to the retailer for a replacement. If you are outside of the retail return policy you can have it repaired under the manufacturers
warranty by contacting support

Oh I see. Probably what's happening to your controller is an issue called drift.

This causes that particular issue, that when the analogue stick is pushed in any direction, it keeps pushing even tho the analogue stick is let go. When that happens, since it's a mechanical issue, it's needed to replace a tiny piece of hardware underneath the analogue stick. :/

As a workaround to prevent the controller going to sleep mode, you might try and use a rubber band to tie one of the analogue sticks into any direction, or put a book or something similar on the controller so the analogue stick is pushed into a direction,
so the controller "thinks" it's being actively used and doesn't go to sleep.

Unfortunately, I don't know of any other way or setting in windows, to prevent the game from "losing" the sleeping controller.

It is worth remembering that this does not give true keyboard and mouse support. All the device does is trick the console into thinking that a controller is connected.

This means that you are still going to be tied to the limitations of what a controller can do. So while arguably it will give you better accuracy, the smoothness of motion given by the analogue sticks will be lost because of using WASD.

In fact movement will be hampered because not only are you going to be tied to just four directions by WASD but slight movements will be made more difficult because of the translation of a digital input from a keyboard into the analogue movements of a controller.

I've finally got something to complain about with my Elite controller. The left stick is way too springy, so when you hold it down in any direction fully and let go, it'll bounce back the other way and record the opposite input 4/10 times. It makes menu
navigation a real pain, so I've had to adjust how I use the controller and never let my thumb off the analogue stick.

Other than that, it's still a fantastic controller and I'm glad I bought it.
