  1. Analog DVD Captions not registering and Kinect causing 3D intrference

2 issues with the Xbox One Blu Ray player.

    1) When I put a DVD (either original, or recorded) in my DVD player that’s attached to my Satellite/Antenna TV, the closed captions seems to come out fine, as long as I output 480i and take it to the CRT TV, but when I but those same discs in the Xbox One,
the Analog closed captions don’t read at all. Considering some of these DVDs are from satellite and broadcast TV, and are not available commercially, my mom can’t watch them right.

And I remember a Betamax recording we did of Return of the King (the Rankin Bass version, not the Peter Jackson version), there were "test closed captions" where if you turn on the decoder there was no actual dialog, but described the technology. They were
testing if the deaf can notice and the hearing can go around unassuming under their noses, and seeing how accurate the signal was. So it recorded on VCRs made even BEFORE the Closed Captions were thought of as a concept.

So if analog closed caption signals are on the DVD recorder, and they are because I can see them on a CRT TV made when CC decoders were government mandated. We took back one DVD recorder because it dd no successfully capture the closed captions, and bought
a Panasonic, which we knew would.

If the Closed Captions are an artifact of a 480i signal, and DVDs are recoded in 480i, and because the Xbox One can only do progressive, and successfully converts 480i to 480p, why isn’t the closed caption signal transcribed along with it in the playback?

By the way, I only get an analog signal on my Dish Network, so we can’t watch the Xbox TV In and get closed captions either. But it does understand the closed captions on digital broadcast channels.

    2) Kinect causes my 3D movies to mess up. I have to point my Kinect away from my face to get my 3D glasses working well.

I don’t know what makes kiect different from a regular camra, but it also interferes with my Nintendo Wii U Fit Meter, when the Xbox One is downloading something overnight and I update my weight, if I don’t shut it off the Kinect messes up the Wii Fit meter.

I don’t expect the Kinect to be smart enough to sense understand my Wii U, but the Blu Ray player should be smart enough to turn off whatever’s interfering with my glasses, if it’s something to do with the Kinect.

Finally the weird question: How many Xbox One games use Kinect? How many use stereoscopic 3D glasses? How many use both combined?

And how is Disneyland Kinect and Disney Pixar Rush inect released when those games required Kinect on the 360, yet were released after Kinect for Xbox One was discontinued.

On the subject: why make Cabela games backwards compatible when the light gun that worked with them is NOT Backward compatible? That is a worthless backward compatibility. Kind of like how House of the Dead 3 was Original Xbox backward compatible with
the 360, but couldn’t be played without an original Xbox controller port to plug the gun into.

    :)

About the DVD CC. I don't think it's a retail vs. burnt disc issue. Simpsons Seasons use analog Closed Captions, they are the retail copies, and they read perfectly fine on a 480i CRT TV, but put them through the Xbox Blu Ray app and they don't show up,
like the DVD reader portion of the App is unaware how to pick up analog closed captions.

    Hello!

Thanks for reaching out to us here on the forums with this situation. I understand you're having trouble with Closed Captions not playing off of burned discs. And that when you're watching your 3D content the Kinects Infrared causes visible distortion. Also
you wanted to know how many games there are that use Kinect features. First off the Closed Captions format are most likely not compatible with the Blu-Ray App since the discs were burned. The Kinect actually is designed to be using IR technology to communicate
with other devices such as the Xbox One Media controller (also discontinued). That being said there are several different Xbox 360 Games that utilize the Kinect there is even a couple of Xbox One games that were made for the Xbox One Kinect Sensor. Unfortunately
the Kinect is no longer supported to you wont be seeing updates or any new content for the device anytime soon.

Hope this helps answer some of your questions. :D

Yeah, my TV is probably the number 1 most popular single model of 3D TV ever made, the Playstation 3D Display. It was the cheapest 3D TV at $500 to start and $180 at the end. It was "gamer sized", and it's the smallest 3D TV, and the then smallest 1080p
TV, and the smallest 2340 Hz TV and the then lowest ping tv of any non-CRT TV at 33 ms in 2010-2012. I'm surprised I'm the first one to notice. That TV has infrared 3D synching.

My question about the Kinect games was, how many 360, 360 Indie, Xbox One, and Xbox One community gamers CAN use simultaneously Stereoscopic 3D AND Kinect? The answer is probalby zero, but if it's greater than zero it should be noted that you have to choose
between Kinect and 3D. Of course this only applies to Infrared synched 3D Shutter TV, not other shutter synching methods or Polar 3DTV.

The Blu Ray app should have the option of going into 2D camera +mic mode for controlling the DVD/HD DVD/Blu Ray if it senses 3D and the option "infrared Shutter 3D" is checked on.

The reason why I mentioned Closed Capytions was a early recording of ours wad "The Star Ward Holiday Special." ( even my brother, the prime audience at 8 years old when it came out, said the exact same thing that Luke said when he first encountered the
    Millenium Falcon:

"What a piece of junk!" If you lose a kid who bought all the toys and stuff, and thinks Star Wars is the best thing ever, your show really is a apiece of junk. ) My point is that when the VCR was made, I don't even think closed captions wee even thought of
as a concept back then. When Return of the King aired its only time on broadcast TV, it had test captions and our Sanyo Betamax was able to pick up the closed captions.

By the way, the factor is not "Burned vs Retail" As I said Simpsons Seasons DVDs had analog closed captions, but they wouldn't pick up on the Xbox On disc reader. I should test the 360 in HDMI mode too and see if they appear there.

How could a 1977 Betamax pick up closed captions it was never intended to get, but an Xbox One can't read analog closed captions on DVD, regardless of whether it's burned or a retail copy? I understand some DVDS recoredes chop of the closed captiots to
get more disc space, but that's a recording. You're losing nothig by keeping i ti the signal, unsless your Xbox One doesn't know HOW to read analog captions.

Analog DVD Captions not registering and Kinect causing 3D intrference

    Hi there Triple,

Thanks for your update. Unfortunately, there is no definitive list on what formats of closed captioning that the Blu Ray app supports; you may want to try using another disc with the same or similar format to the one on the disc you're attempting to play.
If the issue persists, then it appears the application may not support the closed captioning.

    I hope this helps.
