    Old subject I know, but I've never had need to do this until now.

    I have my 360 connected to my receiver via HDMI for projection and would also like to route the console audio to zone 2 of my receiver (main use of 360 is a WMC extender - zone 2 is the room the back of my theater opens into).

    I know there is an item sold for this and I have one on order, but I'm hoping to use this zone 2 setup for an event this week and nobody that I've found has these adapters available for fast shipping without paying out the nose for delivery. I know you
    can use the analog A/V cables as long as you can modify them so that the HDMI cable will plug in.

    I've done this with a spare set of cables I have. They aren't the MS cables as I can't find a set of those. These are an off brand set of SD only (composite/Svideo). I took the casing off of the plug and can get them both plugged up, but the console won't
    boot with both plugged in. I also tried a set of 3rd party component/composite cables with the same result.

    Anything in the console settings have to be changed for this to work or is this a case of using a 3rd party product (they work when HDMI isn't plugged in). Unplug one cable and the console resets and works fine.

    Analog and HDMI video cannot be output at the same time. The only AV port device that fits in the console when an HDMI cable is attached is the HDMI AV kit audio adapter. That adapter's no longer needed as the 360 S has an optical out port.



    If conventional left/right analog audio is required, use a digital to analog audio converter.
