Also, I own a Vita. I've tried remote play in my home. Maybe I'm just too old, but the UI shrunk down to a 5" screen is difficult to see, and Vita's control nubs are not comfortable to use.

I own a Shield Portable and Shield Tablet. I own several Razer laptops. I own a Razer Edge. The only portable experience that's been worthwhile so far is the Edge because you take it with you, you don't need a network connection, and the 10.4" screen is
big enough for HD game UIs to be visible.

Based on the replies of some people, I'd like to re-stress how this works...

No one would have to update their PCs. All your PC has to process is a live stream... no more technologically demanding than a Skype conversation. The game runs on your home console and streams to your portable device through wifi. So it's like your console
and your portable device are having a face-time conversation... where your portable device is receiving a live stream video of the game, and the console is receiving the controller input.

Lag is definitely a considerable issue that is constantly improving across portable devices & wifi networks. Compare today to 10 years ago. However, the fact that the Vita is already using this technology is pretty profound testament that it's absolutely
    feasible.

  3. I know precisely how it works - I've used the OnLive service which works exactly the same way. And we all know how popular that is right now...

Would LOVE a Wii U like set up!

Being able to play some Titanfall on a handheld while the wife watches TV in the other room would be Golden!!

  5. Feed, you would not like that. It's hard enough to see on-screen text and pilots from a distance as is even on a big screen much less on one that's only a few inches across...

it's good to have options and features, but i don't this this would be a game changer by any means, i personally see no value in this because there is a reason why i don't PC game anymore, and basically the same reason i don't use a mobile gaming device,
i find the experience lacking compared to the console experience.

and i honestly wonder how many people actually use the remote play feature after the "honeymoon" phase had passed, don't really see much about it anymore, figured there'd be a lot more bragging if it was that great.

  9. If I'm away from home, it's usually because I'm busy doing something important and don't have time to play games on the go. Games, IMO, belong at home where I can relax and get away from the stress of life in general.

Some folks are comparing this to cloud gaming... it's definitely similar, but the main difference is this idea runs on YOUR console in YOUR home, rather than on some distant crowded server. Depending on the connection on both ends, this concept could be
much faster than cloud gaming, especially on a LAN.

Also, as some of you have argued, I fully agree that many games are best experienced in the living room setting... that's undisputed. Of course, this concept wouldn't take away from that at all... if you're not a fan of it, you don't
    have to use it.

But the Xbox is constantly becoming a more and more versatile machine, look at the 360's transition; starting in 2005 as a machine that did one simple thing... you put the game in and it plays it... But it ultimately evolved into a central
entertainment machine through which you could access Netflix, browse the internet & even buy games movies etc.

The library of games available on XBL is also constantly becoming more versatile... many games on it aren't oriented for the same cinematic "living room" experience. In fact, many games such as Tell Tale's The Walking Dead are also released on
ios and tablets... so not all games on Xbox are necessarily intended for living room play. Valient Hearts would be a good example of how this feature could be used optimally. Core games like Skyrim or Sniper Elite 3 might
not necessarily be optimal for this, but to players like myself, having the option to play even these games on a remote device would
    still be a selling point.

In this industry, considering the appearance of cloud gaming and features like the Vita remote play,
this concept is simply the next logical step.

  11. if you wondered how Microsoft could make money off this here is a simple solution if we are talking about tablets with this whole portable gaming.

The Xbox One control pad would be needed and in order to make it compatible with each and every tablet out there Microsoft could make the money from the adapters in order to make it compatible.

Also, let's not ignore that the handheld market is alive and well. Many are arguing that "on-the-go" play is simply not convenient... maybe that's true for you, but the market says otherwise.

NINTENDO 3DS WAS THE BEST SELLING CONSOLE OF 2013...Yes... a handheld device outsold both Xbox One and PS4 in the year that they launched. If you really want, chalk it up
to the fact that Xbox One & PS4 released in the fall, but that's when the vast majority of consoles sell anyway. http://kotaku.com/nintendo-3ds-was-top-selling-system-of-2013-because-it-1503082139

THE POINT: People ARE interested in playing on the go. There is absolutely a HUGE sector of gamers interested in this.

The Vita has arguably failed because it's too expensive and gamers are too attached to their library of home console games... This idea eliminates BOTH of those problems.

Excellent point! But not to mention, they'd make a lot of money from this because it would act as a tie-breaker for buyers considering Xbox One or PS4.

Anyone who already owns a tablet/phone that can run SmartGlass (and could thereby stream their games remotely via the internet) would find this pretty dang appealing.

Wrong, I remote play PS4 games on my Vita from around 30 miles away from home when on site work, it performs flawlessly.
