Amplifier for Xbox One Headset

Hi guys,

Can someone please set me right on the whole Xbox one headphone set up! I have recently moved across to an Xbox one, previously I would use the Sennheiser U320's with the 360 to play audio and chat through. I didn't have a TV with audio out put ports,
so used the 360 audio out adapter which went into the back of the 360.

I would like to try and use the U320's again with the Xbox one. I went and brought the adapter, and did the controller update, plugged the headphones all in, and sure enough I get stereo through the headphones, and can chat. However the quality is no where
near as it was when on the 360, and I am assuming this is because on the physical capabilities of that little adapter?!

Now I have done a small bit of looking about, watched a few vids on youtube etc, and a few use an amplifier to get the sound quality they require, and mainly when their TV has no audio output. The ASTRO MixAmp A40 pops up a few times. Can someone advice
me if I need this sort of amplifier to achieve the audio quality I require in my situation? If its deemed that the U320's are a great headphone for the 360, and not suitable for the Xbox one then I will look to upgrade, but would I still need this sort of
amp as I have no audio out put on my TV?

If this is the case, can anyone recommend any other good amplifiers for gaming other then the ASTRO MixAmp?

no surround sound headset for xbox 1 yet!

well, i wish to post this for a long time now.

In case you wish to enjoy true 7.1 surround sound from a headset plugged into the x1 console, i am sad to say that xbox one doesn't support them yet. The reason is purely technical. It is not a complaint or frustration comment, but out of care & love for
xbox one that i say this :

Most if not ALL of them 7.1 TRUE (not VIRTUAL) surround sound pc headsets across the market provide the multi-channel sound through a 7.1 amplifier that plugs into a usb port of your pc.

Unfortunately, so far the xbox one console does not offer that kind of a powered USB connection for audio output making it impossible for 7.1 headset owners to be able to use them with the x1. The only way to get surround from the console is through the
HDMI & the toslink connected to a TV or a stereo deck amplifier. So, here 's my case :

i tried to use a toslink / usb audio adapter to connect the turtle beach z60 7.1 amplifier without which the headset doen;t provide 7.1 surround sound. But i found out that the toslink output of the console does not send by default any power to the usb amplifier
of the z60 headset and i can't have multichannel sound. Only if i plug the headset right at the back of the x1 controller with the 3.5mm jack, only then i get stereo, yet not surround sound unfortunately.

this stands for all 7.1 surr. sound headsets across the market sad to say..

i hope in the future microsoft considers to add a usb port at the console's back apnel just for this reason, to be able to connect this kind of amazing headsets..

I have just got my self some U320s and Im having the same problem with the sound quality. It seems to only be playing through the chat option and not the game option.

Did you manage to resolve you problem?

This is a huge question for me too. Can I just plug in a single cable into the volume control bit and have both chat and game audio? Will the sound quality be poor? Will I hear game audio at all?
