Actually creating and playing a baseball game in the same was a fifa i think is never going to be easy, but I am a little surprised games like championship manager hasn't crossed into other games like baseball.

 

To those saying baseball is boring, thats your opinion. In many peoples opinion basketball and soccer are mind numbingly boring. More people watch baseball than they do basketball and soccer in this country. Yet, fifa and nba 2k sell a ton in this country.
Its not because they are more popular sports but its because the games are well made.

Hell, baseball is exponentionally more popular than the NHL and yet there are yearly nhl games that sell well. Why? The game is well made. If you build it, they will come. The sales of mlb 2k and newer baseball gamea has nothing to do with the sport, its
the quality of the games. Baseball games have been a staple to gaming consoles since the inception of gaming consoles. 2k buying the liscense, killing off MVP and competition is what brought us to this point today, not the sport itself. I guarentee if MVP
were allowed to continue, we would be playing MVP 14 right now and not having this discussion.

again, its all about the quality of the product, hence the good sales of nhl, wwe, and nba games despite their lack of popularity. I totally understand a business perspective in entering the baseball game making world. 2ks demise has to scare you. But you
have to see a WIDE open xbox market as well. You have to see a VERY eager MLB willing to do what it takes to have their product represented, and you have to see the rebounding and increasing popularity of the sport in general.

Mlb basically forced 2k to make 2k13, and then they forced rbi 14 into the market just to have SOMETHING out there. I bet the MLB would invest heavily into a game dev to make a mlb game other than the show. I anticipate a 2015 mlb game on xbox because I
personally think the mlb itself will make a dev an offer too good to pass up. I just hope that dev is EA because the mvp series has reached mythical status almost and would garner lots of hype, probably outselling the show in its first iteration back into
the market.

 

Also, for anyone unaware, EA developed a MVP game as recently as 2012. It was only available in korea. At the time 2k still had the liscense to it would seem EA was atleast testing the waters to re-enter the market after the exclusive deal ended. Perhaps
they have been working on a game.

EA did say that internally there is a grest passion for baseball but would only do it if an A-team was able to be placed on it. It is possible that the termination of ncaa has something to do with this.

So you people can deny that a baseball game is profitable or needed all you want, but until their is one on the X1, the X1 will continue to lose sales to the Ps4. I can't tell you how many people I know that went with PS4 instead of X1 because of X1 having
no baseball game.

It really is about demographics....50% who watch baseball are 55+ years old. 75% who watch are 35+ years old. That is not very compatible with the same demographic of video game console owners/players.

The older age demographic for baseball is a know fact, and has been edging older since the late 70's.

I believe there is a BB game on XB1 but I don't know how good it is. My feeling is games like NBA and NFL sell well and continue to get made because other country's also like NFL and NBA. Them to titles sell well here in the UK I believe.

On the other hand BB (Baseball) is not all that popular in other country's. So they don't make them since they don't sell all that well. I think the only reason Sony's BB games sell well is due to the fact there the only company making decent MBL games.
They need competition but I think other publishers/developers are a little scared to make one due to sales. Remember it only takes on failed game to ruin a publisher/developer.

Yes, but that is about a specific study targeting MLS only....Nielsen ratings (look that up) are pretty darn accurate for TV ratings and demographics (obviously they are not 100% accurate). Go look around google with : American Sports Age Gender Race Demographics
as key words. I am not making numbers up, it is a FACT that baseball has an older demographic. I don't care whether baseball makes for a good video game or not, just trying to explain that it definitely has an older (and currently getting more older) demographic.
And that probably explains why it is not as popular with video gamers.
