  1. AMD software detected that a driver timeout has occurred.

I am trying to play fortnite and the computer keeps crashing midgame. I have had multiple blue screens however many times the game just crashes to windows. other times screen goes black and sound gets messed up. I need to restart to get it back working. I have tried many online solutions. I have suspected the graphics card so i tried it in another system and it worked without issue.

AMD software detected that a driver timeout has occurred.

    Thanks for your reply.

Sol far i haver ran sfc scannow, dism, changed graphics driver including factory resetting. I have tried different ram, i have suspected the gpu andd used it in another machine however issue doesnt occur. The computer is not blue screening during gameplay. the driver itself is crashing with the "AMD software detected that a driver timeout has occurred on your system." I have searcched online and tried many variations of solutions and none have worked.

    - including verifying game files for fortnite

    - disabling mpo

    - disabling gpu power saving features etc

When fortnite crashes event log shows the following:
"Display Driver amdwddmg stopped responding and has successfully recovered"

AMD software detected that a driver timeout has occurred.

    Hello, jonathanmcguirk

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community

Thank you for your feedback. I have analyzed the dmp file you provided in detail.

From the debugging information provided, the system has experienced several blue screen errors (Bug Check), mainly involving the following types:

    1. DRIVER_VERIFIER_DMA_VIOLATION (e6), which is an error caused by the driver detecting an illegal DMA operation when the driver verifier is enabled. This is an error related to interrupt handling, which may be related to hardware interrupts or drivers. It may be that a driver violated the IOMMU rules when performing DMA operations, causing the system to detect illegal operations and trigger a blue screen.

    2. SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (7e), which is a common error, usually caused by an unhandled exception raised by a driver or system thread. This is caused by an access violation in `dxgmms2.sys` (DirectX graphics memory management subsystem). It may be caused by graphics drivers or related hardware problems.

    3. MEMORY_MANAGEMENT (1a), this is a memory management related error, which may be related to memory allocation or access.

Based on the above analysis, you can try the following methods, which may help your current problem.

    1. Update drivers

Please make sure that all hardware drivers (especially graphics drivers and network drivers) are up to date. You can download and install the latest drivers from the hardware manufacturer's website.

    2. Check system files

    1. Search for CMD, find the command prompt, and choose to run in administrator mode.

    2. Enter the following commands one by one. Be sure to execute the next command after the previous one is completed.

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    SFC /Scannow

    3. After the scan is completed, you can check the scan information to see if any problems have been found and fixed.

If the problem disappears during the above two steps, try to remove the antivirus software/system optimization software/system monitoring software installed on your computer one by one until the problem disappears.

    3. Run the Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool to detect possible memory hardware problems

Press Win + R to open the Run dialog box, enter mdsched.exe, and then press Enter.

Select Restart and check for problems:

In the pop-up window, select "Restart now and check for problems (recommended)". The system will restart and start the memory test.

Wait for the test to complete:

The system will automatically run the test and display the progress. After the test is completed, the system will restart again and display the test results after logging in.

    4. Use the CHKDSK tool that comes with Windows to detect possible hard disk problems

    Open the command prompt:

Press Win + X keys and select "Command Prompt (Admin)"

Type chkdsk C: /f /r in the command prompt and press Enter.

C: is the drive you want to check and can be changed as needed.

The /f parameter means to repair errors on the disk.

The /r parameter means to locate bad sectors and restore readable information.

    Restart the computer:

Disclaimer: Run chkdsk to check the file system and file system metadata of the volume for logical and physical errors. To avoid unnecessary trouble, please follow the above steps step by step, and do not interrupt or cancel during the run, and make a good backup of important data

If the system drive (usually the C drive) is checked, the system will prompt you to run CHKDSK the next time you restart. Enter Y and press Enter.

Restart the computer and CHKDSK will automatically run and check the hard disk at startup.

If the results show a hardware problem, please consider contacting the after-sales staff of your device manufacturer for more help.

I hope this information is helpful. If you have any questions, please let me know and I will be happy to provide you with further assistance.

    Best regards

AMD Software Detected that a Driver timeout has occurred - AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Help!

figured out the temps was the issue with the crashing just needed to replace the GPU and BOOM problem solved.

had seen a post where someone had shown temps and hotspot temps and there was a big difference from Phantom Gaming and MSI, so I just replaced it with an ASUS TUF, and everything was good.

sometimes cheaper isn't the way to go.

    Thanks for your advice, Tommy.

    Hello KidNamed_Ace.

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Regarding to your information I assume that your graphic driver always crash.

It seems that AMD graphics card driver crashes seem to be a common issue. You can find many users on the AMD forum who have reported this

problem and as a former user of the 5700XT graphics card, I often encountered driver crashes while using this card.

It seems that you have done almost all troubleshooting steps that an user can do.

Make sure that your Bios and motherboard driver is latest version.

Maybe you can try to set the memory as low frequency and try it again. (Don't use the XMP profile or other profile manufactor provide to you,

use the basic frequency and try it again)

Try to disabled core performance boost in the Bios may also worth to try it.

If you are going to modify BIOS Settings, please back up all your personal files first to ensure you do not lose data.

You can also try to disconnect the network and boot as the Safe Mode after that uninstall the Graphic Driver and install it again, reboot your computer

try to play the game with offline mode and check whether it's crashed.

If still crashed I think you can try to apply for after-sales service, as this may be related to a hardware defect in your graphics card.

Or you can contact the AMD for further help of this issue.

If there is anything not clear, please do not hesitate to let me know.
