Like a lot of people I thought this was gonna end up under the Google name, but looks like the deal fell through

First of all, I'm thrilled it wasn't Google.

Second... what Amazon did to LOVEFiLM (the games rental portion, at least) worries me, though Twitch have already said that the company will remain pretty much the same and benefit from Amazon's server farm. It doesn't make sense for Amazon to take away
what Twitch provides now, especially seeing as they already have their own TV streaming service running.

Perhaps they saw what Twitch had become and simply thought it was a good investment - really hope this is the case.

 

I'm not really savvy enough to know what amazon have done to other companies but I'm guessing its not good? Hopefully they do good with twitch. I don't use it enough but its nice to have when you need it.

 

If "Criminal Minds" on Amazon Film is anything to go by you'll be able to start watching your friend's Twitch feeds for free and then when you are halfway through they'll say "To watch this stream either buy it or rent it from Amazon.com".

 

@Cloud: Amazon acquired LOVEFiLM and then closed down their game rental division "to focus on providing the best TV/movie streaming/rental service". It was hugely disappointing as LOVEFiLM was the best game rental service the UK has ever seen (that is, in
my experience from 2006/07).

Boomerang Games are actually quite good too. Didn't seem like they used be but I suppose the influx of new customers after Amazon killed LOVEFiLM had their step up their game. The only other alternative I can think of is Blockbuster... and I couldn't even
get a single disc from them during my trial period.

Sounds about right. Although it might be a good earner for people, but then again I doubt people would be willing to rent a stream for a minute at a time haha!

Yeah I agree with @Watch7ower that lovefilm game rental service was pretty good. Soon as they announced focusing on films I cancelled my subscription.
